Many people know me for providing infant craniosacral therapy. I’ve spent over 2 decades (my entire career) studying human development and family relationships. Because these are the most powerful forces in life. I’m sure you’ve heard of the importance of the infant-parent bond. A strong foundation can support a secure attachment, and confidence and connection grow from that. But who talks about how to actually do this when you’re hit with the reality of newborn caregiving? Yes the pediatrician is there for medical concerns and there are plenty of how-to books (not that you have time for extra reading when there’s feeding and sleeping and crying to figure out.) There are postpartum professionals who care for your lactating breasts, your baby’s sleep schedule, and the reflux that’s throwing everything off…
What about the big picture of how to nurture a baby’s natural biological rhythms so this inevitably stressful time can feel manageable? I'm a provider who checks many boxes through an interdisciplinary approach- since babies aren’t easily divided into neat categories, our care and understanding of them shouldn’t be either. When we can see the baby as a whole developing person, with their own unique temperament and needs, caregiving feels more instinctual and your efforts are more rewarding. What is your baby showing us through their body and behavior? We do this with the Newborn Observational Assessment and an understanding of Developmental Movement, including infant reflexes. Using their body and behavior we can give the right type of stimulation that helps set them up for success in feeding, sleeping, and engaging you in their forms of communication. Understanding yourself as a parent and person is crucial, so I make sure you are connecting with your own motivations and concerns as you get to know your baby. On top of seeing your infant more clearly and trying out some new ways of meeting their needs, it’s important to address postpartum isolation. New parents need connection and support fueling them so they have positive energy to give back to your baby. My services include support for infant feeding, sleeping, and crying; couples communication and partnership alignment (for the entire parenting journey); and pediatric bodywork that addresses holistic health concerns- from school challenges to behavioral and emotional health. A few of my certifications include Infant Sleep Educator, Health and Wellness Coach, Bodywork Therapist, Yoga Instructor, Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, MNRI Core in Training (Masgutova's Neurosensorymotor Reflex Integration), Tummy Time Method, Tethered Oral Tissues Assessment and Care, Instructor of Infant Massage, and of course...infant craniosacral therapy. I also have a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology and have supported the Wilmington community as a birth doula, birth educator, and prenatal massage therapist. I'd love to learn more about you and the type of support you need.
