Team work makes the dream work! Congratulations to the 7N Behavioral Health Unit at Wilmington Hospital for receiving the DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses! The DAISY Team Award recognizes teamwork and patient- and family-centered care that make a positive, measurable impact.

“My physical and mental well–being were saved by this team,” said the nominator, who was a patient on the unit.

“It was evident from each of these individuals that they genuinely and graciously wanted to be caring for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies.”

The patient shared that the members of the interdisciplinary team provided personal, compassionate care.

Hot diggity dog! 🐕 Caregivers at our Wilmington Hospital campus took some time recently to "paws" and de-stress, thanks to our Center For WorkLife Wellbeing. They visited with our cute and cuddly friends from PAWS for People who did some tricks for them, and offered lots of kisses and time for belly rubs.

As we recently continued our National Police and Public Safety Week celebration, two of our public safety officers at Wilmington Hospital received certificates of service for their outstanding performance and service to their fellow caregivers and our neighbors.

A peek back at nursing history: On Nov. 19, 1901, the first nurses to graduate from the nursing program at Delaware Hospital (the precursor to Wilmington Hospital) included Margaret Donnigan, Nellie Lee Carpenter, Geraldine Magee, Margaret McConnell and Eva B. Hayes.

To help parents and caregivers protect their most precious cargo on the road, our Emergency Department hosted free community car seat checks today at our Wilmington Hospital campus.

Our neighbors received helpful information about child passenger safety from our certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPTS). A total of 32 car seats were checked to be sure they were up to safety standards.

Through innovation and teamwork, the Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital has expanded its capacity, increasing from 26 beds to 30 beds to meet the growing demand for inpatient rehabilitation services. This expansion will enable the center to care for an additional 216 patients annually, significantly strengthening its ability to meet the needs of the community.

Recognizing the pressing need to do more, the rehabilitation team collaborated to find creative and efficient solutions to add four more beds and create additional space for therapy. They reimagined existing layouts by reconfiguring a few private rooms into semiprivate rooms and repurposing unused space within the unit. Read more: https://ow.ly/9yTL50VvMsa
