November is National Bladder Health Awareness Month. Did you know that bladder health can play a role in your risk of falling? An overactive bladder or needing to use the bathroom multiple times during the night can lead to increased fall risk. In addition, some medications used to treat bladder conditions may also cause side effects that contribute to falls.

Team work makes the dream work! Congratulations to the 7N Behavioral Health Unit at Wilmington Hospital for receiving the DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nurses! The DAISY Team Award recognizes teamwork and patient- and family-centered care that make a positive, measurable impact.

“My physical and mental well–being were saved by this team,” said the nominator, who was a patient on the unit.

“It was evident from each of these individuals that they genuinely and graciously wanted to be caring for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies.”

The patient shared that the members of the interdisciplinary team provided personal, compassionate care.
