Workshop Series!
Brain-Body-Sensory Strategies that Really Work
This is a WEEKLY SERIES from March 4th through April 15th.
via Zoom
Facilitated by: Amy Morgan, LPCMH, CPAT and Celeste Bishop, Permanency Specialist

We are so excited to once again offer this seven-part series created by Robyn Gobbel, based on her book, Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors. This course will help to demystify the most baffling behaviors. Your parenting toolbox will be stuffed with brain, body, and sensory strategies that actually work. You’ll grow your tolerance for baffling behaviors so you can parent the way that you want to. Seven weeks is a long time, we know! But you’ll join us and other parents from across Delaware for just one evening a week, you’ll come to develop the confidence to stay connected to your kids even in the face of the most bizarre and baffling behaviors.

Attendance at all workshops is strongly encouraged!
Dates include:
March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th
April 1st, 8th, and 15th

New Workshop!
Helping Children Understand Their Story
TOMORROW @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
via Zoom

Facilitators: Meg Garey, LPCMH/Executive Director and Celeste Bishop, Permanency Specialist

Adoptive Parents, Permanent Guardians, Guardians, and foster parents often struggle to find just the right words to help their children understand why they aren’t being raised by their biological parents. Topics such as abuse, neglect, substance use, and incarceration – among others – are sensitive topics. As parents and caregivers, we want to shield our kids from things that may hurt or confuse them. When our kids become curious and start asking the hard questions, we’re often at a loss about the words to use and how much information is “okay” to share. Join us as we talk about how important it is for our kids to understand their story in a way that doesn’t further traumatize them. You’ll leave this workshop with conversational approaches you can use with your children at different developmental stages.

Happy Black History Month! 🤎

This month is a time to honor black culture, strength, and stories from the past, present, and future!

Many well known black leaders including Simone Biles, Eddie Murphy, Colin Kaepernick, and Jamie Foxx were adopted and/or spent time in foster care.

Shared experiences and representation matters to us, as we serve many diverse children & families. This month and everyday we celebrate you!

We may not be poets, but we do know a good match when we see one!

Valentine’s Day is all about the perfect match, and did you know your gift to A Better Chance for Our Children might already have one?

Many employers offer matching gift programs, which means your donation could be doubled (or even tripled!) at no extra cost to you. It’s one of the simplest ways to share a little extra love with the children and families we serve.

Here’s how it works:
💗 You make a gift
💗 Your employer matches it
💗 Your impact is multiplied

Matching gifts help us cover critical gaps, like respite care, family support, and trauma-informed resources that aren’t fully covered by state funding or insurance. When a gift is matched, it truly becomes a match made in impact.

Take just a minute to see if your employer is a match: https://abcfoc.org/donate/

Already gave this year? Even better, many companies will match past donations too.

Thank you for always showing up for our families. Your generosity means more than you know, and when it’s matched, the love goes even further.
