The ongoing commitment and generosity of our members and long-standing students enable us to support our entire community through volunteer outreach and free or reduced-cost offerings to those most in need of access to yoga. It’s so exciting to see consistent students dive into a training to deepen their own practice and learn to teach. We can’t wait to see where the next 8 months take them.

This month we’re honored to shine the spotlight on Sherry - a longtime yogi whose resilience inspires us and reminds us what this practice can truly offer.

🔹 How long have you been practicing?
About 10 years

🔹 Favorite class?
Morning Energy Flow, it gets me going (but not too early!)

🔹 Favorite asana?
Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon). I’m a night owl!

🔹 Advice for new students?
Be flexible mentally. Explore different classes. Don’t compare your practice to others, we all have different abilities and strengths. Connect with your teachers and fellow students, and most importantly… breathe.

🔹 Most satisfying aspect of practice?
The mental wellness and the yoga community. Yoga has added an essential tool to my toolbox for managing mental illness in ways medication and therapy alone couldn’t.

"After being a bit of a yoga nomad in Wilmington, I truly found home at WYC. The knowledgeable, caring teachers and variety of classes meet you exactly where you are in life. In 2024, I faced a chapter I never imagined: a melanoma diagnosis and treatment. Alongside medical care, I leaned on friends, family, prayer, and yoga. The free cancer support classes at WYC, taught by volunteer instructors, were just as important as my treatments. That level of care speaks volumes about this community. I’m now cancer free and deeply grateful."

We are so grateful for you, Sherry. Thank you for sharing your story and for being such a meaningful part of our WYC family. 💙

Most people think Yoga Nidra is “just relaxation”… until they experience it.
As we step into 2026, make this the year you give your nervous system the reset it deserves. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that brings you into deep, conscious rest—so restorative, one hour can feel like four hours of sleep.
If your New Year’s intention is to prioritize rest, reduce stress, or deepen your practice, our Yoga Nidra Immersion Weekend with Kristen Stritter is the perfect start. March 13–15, you’ll explore:
• what Yoga Nidra actually is
• how it supports anxiety, trauma, and stress
• the science of deep rest
• how to craft and guide a Yoga Nidra experience
• plenty of nourishing practice time
No prior experience needed-just bring your curiosity.
Early Bird: $325 before Jan 13
Standard: $375 after Jan 13
If rest feels out of reach lately, this weekend could be your first intentional step toward a calmer, more grounded 2026.

They’re baaaack… and they’re ready to melt your heart.
We’re kicking off 2026 with one of our most joy-filled traditions: Puppy Yoga with paws4people! This class has always filled fast, and we’re so excited to bring it back.
Join Erin Powley, for a 60-minute all-levels class where the puppies roam freely, play, flop, and turn Savasana into a full-on cuddle puddle. Every ticket supports the incredible work of the paws4people foundation, so you’re giving back and helping to socialize the pups.
