Shoulders play a major role in yoga practice: from downward dog to chaturanga to arm balances. Understanding how the shoulder complex functions can help support a safer and more sustainable practice.
In this two-hour workshop, Jess Hartmann will guide participants through:
• An overview of shoulder anatomy
• Common shoulder injuries seen in yoga
• Strengthening strategies for injury prevention
• Modifications that support long-term joint health
Through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice, you’ll gain tools to better support your shoulders both on and off the mat.
Our PRISM program is about taking your yoga practice into your everyday life: how you move, how you respond, how you take care of yourself.
Not something you just do for an hour, but something that actually supports you.

Meet Anna
Newer to Wilmington, but already such a special part of the WYC community, Anna brings a sense of curiosity and openness to her practice.
Her yoga journey started with a simple nudge from a friend and has taken her all over the world, from time spent living in Morocco to the last few years on O’ahu. As a kid, she dreamed of becoming a National Geographic photographer… and in a lot of ways, she’s still living that out today as a professional photographer.
You’ll find her teaching Sunday 9:30 Morning Energy Flow.
