Swaddling can be a wonderful tool for helping newborns feel calm and secure — and it’s important to do it safely. Here are two key, evidence-based guidelines every parent should know:

1️⃣ Always place baby on their back to sleep — whether swaddled or not. This is the safest position to reduce the risk of SIDS.

2️⃣ Stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of rolling (often around 8 weeks). At that point, transition to a sleep sack or arms-free option so your baby can move safely.

✅ A snug-but-not-tight swaddle around the torso and loose hips helps baby feel cozy without restricting movement or breathing.

Every baby is different — and sometimes swaddling just doesn’t seem to help with sleep. That’s where a personalized plan makes all the difference.

💛 Too much milk isn’t always a blessing!

Is your baby gassy, spits up a lot, or struggles at the breast? Oversupply might be the reason. Fast let-down, frothy stools, and frequent feeds are common signs — parents may notice fullness, leaking, or recurring plugged ducts too.

With the right approach, oversupply can be managed safely while keeping feeds comfortable and protecting your milk supply.

Is your baby gassy, fussy, or spitting up a lot? Fast let-down and oversupply might be causing those feeding frustrations.

Oversupply can happen for many reasons — pumping too much, your body “remembering” high milk production from previous babies, or an overactive supply-demand loop.

✅ Gentle strategies can help: slow-flow positions, one breast per feed, burp often, and scale back extra pumping when not needed.

👩‍⚕️ I’m an RN specializing in newborn and feeding support. I can help you figure out the root cause of your oversupply and create a personalized plans for smoother, happier feeds.

💛 Too Much of a Good Thing? Let’s Talk Breastmilk Oversupply.

Many parents worry about not having enough milk…
but what if the challenge is having too much?

If your baby gulps, coughs, spits up often, or seems fussy after feeds — you might be dealing with breastmilk oversupply. And while it sounds like a “good problem,” it can be just as stressful as low supply.

✨ Oversupply can cause:
- Fast, forceful let-down
- Gassiness or green, frothy stools
- Frequent “colic-like” symptoms
- Recurrent plugged ducts or mastitis

Here’s what many don’t realize: pumping extra “just in case” or to build a freezer stash early on can accidentally train your body to make more milk than your baby needs.

The result? Discomfort for you, and digestive distress for your little one.

But the good news — with gentle, evidence-based strategies, oversupply can be brought back into balance. 💛

👩‍⚕️ As a Registered Nurse and Lactation Counselor, I help families get to the root cause of feeding challenges like oversupply, oral restrictions, and fast let-down.
