The biggest challenge I face as a physical therapist in the performance space and as a business owner is actually my own health and fitness.
Sounds counterintuitive, right? This is my area of expertise, so you’d think I’d be dialed in.
But there’s always one more patient, one more meeting, one more note, one more task that seems more urgent than taking care of myself.
At the beginning of the year, I started shifting that by going analog. Instead of relying on my phone with endless notifications, I’ve been using a pen-and-paper system. I map out my week, break it down into daily must-dos, and track 6–8 core habits that matter most to me.
It’s simple, but it’s kept me accountable.
I can actually see if I’m hitting my fitness goals, getting my gallon of water, staying on top of protein, and keeping business KPIs moving forward without completely losing sight of myself in the process.
If you’re in the same boat, always taking care of others but struggling to stay consistent yourself, I’d recommend trying an analog system or habit tracker.
Sometimes the simplest tools create the biggest shift. For me, it did!
