A Caring Heart provides NC Innovations Waiver, state-funded and Medicaid services in two MCO service regions: Alliance Health, and Trillium Health Resources with offices in Wilson, Rocky Mount, Wilmington, Goldsboro, Smithfield, Jacksonville, Kenansville, Clinton, and Greenville. We provide an array of community-based services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our services promote individual choice, empowerment and community inclusion. A Caring Heart provides day program services at nine Independence Centers, residential supports at eight group homes and individual AFL homes, plus overnight respite at Aunt Max's Respite Care in Wilson.

Our Smithfield day program ventured out to Smith's Nursery in Benson yesterday. They learned about the Native Americans who once lived on the property. They viewed artifacts found on the land such as arrowheads and pottery. Other activities included a hayride, petting and feeding farm animals, picking their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and making their own butter. Sounds like a fun-filled day! 😍

Last week, our Smithfield consumers and staff volunteered at the Salvation Army. They packed bags of food for the unhoused, separated bags of clothes, and hung the clothes up on racks separated by kids, women, and men. We appreciate the opportunity that the Salvation Army in Smithfield provides for us to help our community.

Talk about working on cooking and vocational skills! It was Taco Tuesday in Jacksonville today. The Goal Getters cooked grilled Baja shrimp tacos with black beans at the Onslow Community Outreach Center. Yummy!
They prepped the food, cooked, ate, and cleaned up. 🌮🌮🌮🌮
