3 lies and a truth!

Which one is the truth?

1. You need exactly 8 hours of sleep every night.
2. There's no cure for insomnia.
3. It's ok to nap if you have insomnia.
4. A sleep study will show why you can't sleep.

LIE

You need exactly 8 hours of sleep every night.

Everyone needs a different amount of sleep. The ideal is between 7 and 9 hours.

LIE

There's no cure for insomnia.

The key to overcoming insomnia is to address the underlying health issues that are affecting your sleep.

TRUTH!

It's ok to nap if you have insomnia.

Taking a short nap at the right time of day can actually help you sleep better at night.

LIE

A sleep study will show why you can't sleep.

Sleep studies look for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. If you don’t have a true disorder, it won’t show the root cause of why you can’t sleep normally.

Our modern life doesn’t make it easy to be healthy. So many habits that are common in this day and age aren’t good for us even though they’re socially acceptable.

Focusing on your health is important for sleep because not being able to sleep well is a sign that the body isn’t healthy. A healthy body needs sleep and knows how to do it. If you can’t sleep, the key is to find out what imbalances in your body are keeping you awake at night and correct them.

You can’t do what everyone else is doing and expect to be healthy.

Here are 15 common and socially acceptable habits that are keeping you unhealthy and affecting your sleep:

1. Wake up to an alarm clock

2. Start day with coffee

3. Go, go, go

4. Work hard without breaks

5.Sit at a desk all day

6. Bright lights inside, little time outside

7. EMFs

8. Standard American diet

9. Eating out

10. Eat quickly on the go

11. Drink tap water

12. Toxins in water, food, personal care and cleaning products

13. Drink alcohol every night

14. On screens all day

15. Worry about money, work, relationships, economy, pandemic, politics

Being healthy is like training a dog.

My mom had a sweet yellow lab named Maggie who she sent away to get “trained.” But my mom didn't learn how to keep her trained so Maggie was not a well-trained dog!

I’ve learned with my dog Bongo that you have to keep reinforcing good behavior. Otherwise, he isn’t motivated to listen and stay trained.

It's the same with your health. You can't "get healthy" and then go back to unhealthy habits.

You have to learn how to stay healthy for your body so you can sleep normally for the rest of your life!

New study: Sleep apnea is associated with an unhealthy gut!

"Our systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) is associated with gut barrier dysfunction. Furthermore, OSA severity appears to be correlated with higher biomarkers of gut barrier dysfunction."

Are you reacting or responding?

Some of my clients are in reaction mode and it's negatively affecting their sleep and the decisions they make.

Reacting comes from panic. Something happens, you panic and take action.

Responding is slower and more deliberate. Something happens, you pause, you process, you plan. Then you take action.

Responding is harder when you're sleep deprived and stuck in fight or flight!

I suggest waiting 24 hours before taking action if you feel stressed or emotional about something.

Let me know in the comments! Do you tend to react or respond?

There's an 85% chance this hidden pathogen is sabotaging your sleep!

H. pylori affects sleep both directly and indirectly.

H. pylori, like other pathogens, is most active at night. H. pylori (insert arrow) inflammation (insert arrow) increase cortisol (insert arrow) awake

Because H. pylori leads to nutrient deficiencies, your body won’t have the vitamins, minerals and amino acids it needs to build hormones, enzymes, neurotransmitters and other necessary chemicals your body needs for healthy sleep.

Minerals get out of balance when you aren’t absorbing nutrients which can directly lead to insomnia.

The inflammation H. pylori causes can lead to leaky gut and food sensitivities and can create an environment where other pathogens can thrive. All of these affect sleep.
