Remember to keep moving! Movement and exercise will keep your body healthy and strong.

Now, when I tell my patients that, they immediately think I want them in the gym 24/7. While that is an option, movement comes in various forms. For example, walking is the simplest exercise to create a stronger core

This is how I've incorporated movement lately.

Many times people are nervous coming in because they don't know what to expect. Here is a video about the process I use every single first visit. All these questions are important in order to get an idea of what is going on with the specific injury as well as the person's overall life that can be contributing to their current situation.

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time! Life has been hectic ( I'm sure a lot of yours has been as well). To make up for it I will post a video soon but for right now, here is a picture of two bomb burritos a patient brought me.

I sent the same picture to my wife and she was in the office within 5 minutes.

I bless you with burritos evermore!

Very appropriate shirt one of my patient wore today.

Very true though. I fell once a few months back and my back hurt for a month. I remember thinking "I don't bounce back like I use to"

A few adjustments later and some light yoga and I was back on top of it.

If your back pain is more of a reality than a memory, you should probably stop on by.

One of the best damn things a patient can bring me. That's a crap ton of morels! A little about me: I've wanted to get into mushroom foraging since I moved to the pnw. I've taken a small beginners course but still am afraid to go out by myself without guidance. Thank you guys!

When you have some mean and nasty days, when the normal is nothing but curve balls, and when home and work responsibilities both are calling your name. It's nice to get some recognition.

Thank you for the review! It was well needed.

A practitioner should always be rooting for you to get better. I've told plenty of my patients that the last thing I want for them is to have me as a crutch. That's why besides adjustments and therapies, you also get home care advice, rehab exercises, and general health advice.

I love my patients and quite frankly, they pay the bills. But, the whole idea of coming to see me is that you don't have to come and see me. Get it? I don't want you living in my office, I want you living your life.

As we age, we start to get a little creaky in places we never were before. It is important to keep moving and avoid an overtly sedentary lifestyle. He are a few simple things you can do.
1. Walk: walking is the simplest from of exercise and just 30 minutes a day can improve your overall back and lower body health.
2. The best adult drink: water. Keeping yourself hydrated will help your muscles cramp up less and keep your spinal disc as healthy as possible.
3. Diet: adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet will help with inflammation. Fruits and veggies have prostaglandins 1 and 3 which are natural anti inflammatories.
4. See your chiro once in a while yo make sure your joints are moving the best they can be.

Stay healthy and enjoy your weekend! If you enjoy it too much, you know where I'm at!

A lot of people wake up with neck pain and say "I didn't do anything!" Which can be very correct. This is why we have to look at some finer details.
First: your pillow. Are you getting the support you need? Is you pillow so old and flat that you are practically touching your head to your shoulder at night? Or the opposite, so big and fluffy that you are stretching the opposite way? A good pillow will keep your body at what we call neutral spine position. If you are sleeping on your side, your neck and back need to be aligned.
Second: that 10 year old mattress you got as a wedding present needs to go. After that, you need to figure what works best for you. My wife sleeps like an angel on a pillow top mattress. Me? I feel like an out of shape 80 year old. Not all mattress fit all body types. You may need a firmer surface to get the support for your general neck and back. So go out experiment with those.
Third: sleeping positions. Are you a mechanical engineer by day and contortionist by night? If so, you may have to reevaluate your sleeping position. Word to the wise: don't sleep on your stomach, it's all around bad juju.

Take these tips and see if you can figure out something that may improve your neck pain and general back comfort.

Do you ever wonder why your back and neck hurt even though you haven't been really doing anything? Do you ever look at your phone hunched over like Gollum looking at the ring? The problem might be your posture.

Human are creatures of habit. We like to be in the position we like mostly because its "comfortable" to us. Things like bowing your back while you sit in a chair, looking at your phone in a super flexed position, and standing with your shoulders rolled forward.

So what can you do? A little experiment. Take your shoulders, stretch them directly backwards, and then move them downwards. Does that feel weird? If so, you have been carrying them in an incorrect posture.

Imagine a string from your head down to your feet. This string needs to pass through earlobe, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle.

So stand up straight, bring those shoulders back, slightly tuck in that chin, and bring those hips more under you!
