Did you know that exercise has a big impact on your hormones? It's not just about building muscle; it’s a fantastic way to support your overall health. From reducing stress to improving sleep and boosting your energy, moving your body can really make a difference!

🌿 Cortisol: Engaging in fun activities like yoga or taking a relaxing walk can help keep this stress hormone in check.
🌿 HGH: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts are great for getting this hormone flowing, which helps build muscle and rev up your metabolism.

🌿 Melatonin: Enjoying morning workouts outdoors can help keep your sleep cycle on track.
🌿 Endorphins: Any kind of movement releases these happy hormones, giving your mood a nice lift.
🌿 Estrogen & Progesterone: Moderate exercise supports reproductive health and helps maintain your energy levels.

🌟 Feeling drained before the day even ends? Low energy isn’t just about needing more sleep; it's about how your body fuels itself! Here are three simple ways to naturally boost your energy:

1️⃣ Balance Your Blood Sugar: Kickstart your day with protein and healthy fats like eggs, avocado, or nuts. Skip the sugary cereals to avoid those dreaded mid-morning crashes!

2️⃣ Stay Hydrated: Mild dehydration can zap your energy. Aim for half your body weight in ounces of filtered water daily. (150 lbs = 75 oz of water!)

3️⃣ Soak in Natural Light: Get some morning sunlight to help regulate your circadian rhythm. Try having breakfast outside or sitting in the sun to boost your energy and sleep quality!

🌞✨ Let's make small changes for big improvements!

🌙 Struggling to get a good night's sleep? You’re not alone! If you’ve been tossing and turning, magnesium might just be the answer you’re looking for.

Here's why magnesium is a game-changer for sleep:

🧘‍♀️ Promotes Relaxation: It helps relax muscles and calms your mind, making it easier for you to drift off.

😩 Reduces Stress and Anxiety: Magnesium helps lower cortisol levels, promoting calmness and making it easier to unwind before bed.

💤 Supports Melatonin Production: This mineral helps regulate melatonin production, which in turn helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Balanced melatonin means smoother transitions to sleep!

🛌 Improves Sleep Quality: Research shows that magnesium not only helps you fall asleep faster but also enhances the quality of your sleep, providing a truly restorative night.

Ready to embrace better sleep? Consider adding magnesium into your routine!

About Dr. April Voves

Professional Bio:

Dr. April Voves is a licensed Naturopathic Physician providing high quality, individualized, evidence-informed medicine using both conventional and alternative therapies. She completed a four-year, accredited, graduate-level naturopathic medical degree at the National University of Naturopathic Medicine. Her undergraduate degree is from Oregon State University in Nutrition Science. Outside of her private practice, Dr. Voves volunteers at Borland Free Clinic and is a proud member of the Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce. My Story: My interest in health and medicine started in childhood, particularly with nutrition. I went on to study nutrition in college and became fascinated with the human body and eagerly wanted to dive into all aspects of human health. As I began to pursue a career in medicine, I worked in various conventional medical settings, but it never felt like the right fit. I felt the conventional model couldn’t address all the patient’s needs and many of the providers I worked with were overworked and dissatisfied due to the unreasonable demands of the profit-driven health care system. I knew there must be a better way to practice medicine. I discovered naturopathic medicine through my own health journey and I immediately knew this was the career for me. I received tremendous benefit from naturopathic medicine for my acne, depression, and abdominal pain after conventional medicine left me frustrated and hopeless. Ironically, after earning my Doctorate, I spent several years in a conventional urgent and primary care clinic. After a few years of practicing in a conventional model, I was becoming dissatisfied and burned out trying to balance my preferred practice style with the complexities of a large, fast-paced, and metric-driven medical system. I was ready to slow down and truly engage with my patients to optimize their wellness. I went on to start Meadows Health and Wellness so I could help patients find answers that conventional medicine isn’t able to provide while balancing my patients’ needs and desires with a job that I love getting up in the morning for! I believe in working with my patients to address both the symptoms and the underlying cause of their condition, optimizing their health, and preventing disease. I use a variety of treatments including nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals, herbal medicine, and nutrition, and lifestyle considerations. My office is a comfortable environment and visits are scheduled to allow ample time for patients to share their story. My treatment plans are customized and tailored for each person. If my specific services aren’t quite enough or a specialist is needed, I gladly collaborate with a broad spectrum of medical providers, offering my patients completely integrative care. I am genuinely pleased to be providing naturopathic care and primary care and look forward to getting to know you and your family. Schedule today to share your story and improve your health today! Practice Focus: I have a special focus and have successfully treated women’s health concerns and digestive issues among other issues that often fall through the cracks of conventional medicine. I help busy, stressed-out women achieve better health and happiness despite being told “everything is normal.” Women juggle so much these days with their careers, children, partners, and households all while trying to fit into a society that puts so much pressure on us to be perfect superhumans. I know what this is like myself as a mother, wife, doctor, and business owner and have had my own struggles with anxiety, stress, guilt, and unhappiness that I have healed through naturopathic medicine. I believe stress affects women differently and many are not getting the help they need and deserve to stay healthy and happy. I’m passionate about helping women resolve the underlying issues that cause daily health struggles so they can feel balanced and energized again! I also help patients uncover the root cause of their digestive issues despite being told "everything is normal" or for those not wanting to cover their symptoms with medications. The gut is a complex system and my comprehensive gut evaluations address the cause and improve symptoms so patients can enjoy symptoms free digestion and a varied diet! In addition, I help patients who are not getting the answers they deserve from conventional medicine. The average conventional medicine visit is 7 minutes in length; what can really be accomplished in this time? Visits with me are scheduled to allow for ample time to discuss your health concerns while treating you as a whole person all while digging deeper to get to the root cause. Call now to see how I can help! 971-373-4012. Personal life: My happy place (and total guilty pleasure!) is floating on the lake on a hot summer day with a margarita in hand! My daily reality includes a wonderful, supportive husband who always incorporates laughter and play into our lives. We have two young boys who continually inspire us to be better people and keeps us active, motivated, and sleep-deprived! If I come across some spare time, you’ll likely find me reading or listening to a podcast.
