AN UPDATE FROM STEVE ABOUT CELSTIA'S SURGERY
Celestia is finally out of surgery. I just spoke with Dr. Morrey, and he said the procedure went very well. They removed a lot of bone fragments and successfully implanted a prosthetic shoulder joint. She will be in the hospital tonight, and barring any complications, we should be able to fly home Saturday morning. Celestia was incredibly faith-filled going into this huge surgery. She is amazing.

Thank you so much for your prayers. Now the work of healing begins.

After weeks of waiting and uncertainty, I have surgery scheduled at Mayo Clinic on August 27–28 with Dr. Morrey, one of the world’s leading shoulder specialists. This is an incredible answer to prayer.

God has provided in remarkable ways — a plan for a shoulder more functional than I’ve had in 15 years, travel that will allow me to arrive rested, and housing within walking distance of the hospital. These may sound like small things, but they are daily reminders that God sees, He knows, and He cares.

Another miracle: the first survivor I ever worked with in Phoenix, Savannah, recently gave her life to Christ. She will be baptized the Sunday after my surgery and share her testimony publicly. Her story is a living picture of the mustard seed Jesus spoke of — small beginnings that grow into something large enough to shelter many. Each act of love matters.

Because of the care God has entrusted to me, I feel an even greater responsibility to live faithfully and wisely. To whom much is given, much is required.

Would you pray with me?
• Wisdom for my surgical team
• Peace as I head into surgery, and that my body accepts the new implant without complication
• That God would complete the repair in one surgery
• Safe travel to and from Rochester

Through all of this, I see a light piercing the tunnel. Thank you for walking with me.

She has no money. No family to step in. No safety net. Her sons are about to be taken away. She knows the knock is coming. She has dreaded this day. The day her world finally crumbles.

Only then does she go to Elisha, the prophet of God.

You don’t have to wait until the pain is gone to come to God. He is not waiting for you to have it all together. He is waiting for you to come to Him.

Please pray for Celestia.
Last week, she fell and broke her shoulder in three places. The injury is so severe it’s likely inoperable.
Right now, she’s in a critical six-week window. Doctors at Mayo Clinic are watching closely, hoping the bones will begin to mend on their own.

We’re asking God for a miracle.

Celestia has lived with chronic pain for decades. She often says, “This is where the power comes from.” That’s still true.
Join us in praying for:
• Peace, rest & comfort,
• Supernatural healing,
• Wisdom and precision for her medical team,
• That the humerus bone reattaches,
• Peace and courage in waiting.

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”

Because the same Jesus who said, “Take up your mat and walk,”
also said, “Your sins are forgiven.”

And He meant both.

In a room full of people waiting for one kind of miracle, Jesus offered another. They came to see what He could do. But He revealed who He is.

David didn’t always feel strong. He wasn’t always confident. But he remembered—and that remembrance reshaped his reality.

When we write it down, we give our future selves a gift: the ability to look back and see, He was here. He was good. I am still standing because of it.

It’s easy to focus on the miracle of language at Pentecost and miss the tenderness that underlies the miracle: God cared that every person heard the Gospel in the language of their heart.

Jesus comes to us where we are; in the middle of grief, addiction, trauma, and shame. And He speaks in words we know.

The enemy thrives on the phrase, "That’s just who I am," because it keeps us trapped in our past. It locks the door on growth and lets shame whisper lies through the cracks. It tells us that healing is impossible, that freedom belongs to someone stronger, someone better. It insists that we are forever defined not only by our worst day, our worst moment, our worst decision, but by the horrible decisions that others made for us, about us and to us.

If we compare ourselves to who we used to be, we are all imposters. But the voice in my head always gets one thing wrong—it knows about who I was, not who I’ve become.
