Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It uses slow, firm pressure and specific techniques to release chronic muscle tension and adhesions (knots). Here are the main benefits:
1. Relieves Chronic Muscle Pain
Deep tissue massage helps break up muscle adhesions and tight areas that cause pain and stiffness. It is commonly used for:
Neck and shoulder tension
Lower back pain
Tight hips and hamstrings
Sports injuries
2. Improves Mobility and Flexibility
By loosening tight muscles and fascia, deep tissue massage allows muscles to move more freely. This can:
Increase range of motion
Reduce stiffness
Help joints move better
3. Reduces Muscle Tension and Knots
Over time, muscles develop trigger points and knots from stress, overuse, or poor posture. Deep tissue techniques help release these knots and restore normal muscle function.
4. Improves Circulation
The pressure applied during deep tissue massage increases blood flow to the muscles, which:
Delivers oxygen and nutrients
Helps remove metabolic waste
Promotes faster healing
5. Helps Injury Recovery
Deep tissue massage is often used for sports injuries, repetitive strain, and overuse injuries. It can help break up scar tissue and improve healing of injured muscles.
6. Reduces Stress and Promotes Relaxation
Although deeper and more therapeutic, deep tissue massage still activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body relax and lowering stress hormones.
7. Improves Posture
Many people develop tight muscles from sitting or repetitive movements. Deep tissue massage helps correct muscle imbalances that contribute to poor posture.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD), sometimes called TMD, is a condition affecting the temporomandibular joints — the hinges that connect your jaw to your skull. These joints allow you to talk, chew, yawn, and move your mouth smoothly. When they become irritated, inflamed, misaligned, or overworked (often from stress, clenching, grinding, injury, or poor posture), it can lead to jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, limited mouth opening, headaches, ear pressure, facial tension, and even neck and shoulder discomfort. Because the jaw is closely connected to surrounding muscles and nerves, dysfunction in this area can radiate symptoms beyond just the jaw. Proper treatment, including targeted manual therapy, can help reduce inflammation, restore mobility, relieve muscle tension, and improve overall function.

About Me

LMT 22091

Jesseka Collins was inspired to be a Massage therapist when she was 17. She played six sports in high school including basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, track, soccer and softball. During her senior year, she tore her rhomboids on her right side and six months later she tore her right rotator cuff. She avoided surgeries on both of these injuries with the inclusion of Massage therapy, Chiropractic and Personal Training to help heal her injuries. Currently she has a very active lifestyle that she makes a priority in her life. These activities include aerial arts, rock climbing, back packing, motor cross, Ninja Warrior gym, belly dancing, hiking, kayaking, volleyball, fitness competitions and more.

In 2016, she graduated at Everest Institute in Tigard and got her Diploma/license in Massage Therapy.
