A CT-guided surgical guide is a precision dental device created from a patient’s 3D CT scan and digital impression, allowing surgeons to precisely place dental implants according to a pre-planned digital treatment plan. The guide, fitted over the gums, directs the surgical drill to the exact planned location, improving accuracy, predictability, and efficiency while minimizing risks to nerves and other vital structures.
How it Works
1. CT Scan & Digital Impression:
A high-resolution 3D CT scan provides detailed information about the patient’s bone structure, nerves, and other vital anatomy. A digital impression captures the exact shape of the patient’s mouth and teeth.
2. Digital Planning:
Specialized software is used to create a 3D digital model of the patient’s mouth and the planned implant position.
3. Surgical Guide Fabrication:
Based on this digital plan, a custom surgical guide (a physical template) is manufactured.
4. Guided Surgery:
The surgeon places the surgical guide in the patient’s mouth. The guide contains precise openings that direct the surgical drill to drill at the exact planned angle and depth for the dental implant.
