Paul’s story is a reminder that recovery doesn’t end when treatment does. It’s sustained through connection, community, and continued support. As we close Recovery Month, his advice is clear: hope is always possible, and no one has to walk the path alone.

09/25/2025

What sustained Paul’s recovery wasn’t just treatment—it was connection. Shortly after leaving, Paul was invited to an alumni event. His first thought was, “Wait—you’re still checking in on me even though I’m not paying anymore?” That moment showed him that at Mountainside, the care goes beyond treatment. Today, Paul serves as our Alumni Connections Coordinator, walking with others the same way people once walked with him.

Meet Paul. After many years in active addiction and time spent in 22 different places, rehabs, institutions, and jails, he came to Mountainside. For the first time, he felt truly connected to the staff. The holistic healing and wellness practices here were exactly what his recovery needed.

Meet Paul. Paul came to Mountainside after many years in active addiction and time spent in 22 different places—rehabs, institutions, and jails. For the first time, he felt connected to the staff, and the holistic approach he found here gave him the foundation his recovery truly needed.

What has sustained his recovery are the connections he built, the alumni events he attended, and the support that continued long after treatment. He remembers being invited to an alumni event shortly after leaving and realizing that the care at Mountainside doesn’t end when treatment does.

Today, Paul is our Alumni Outreach Coordinator, helping others feel the same support that made a difference in his own recovery. Recovery is love. And Paul’s story is a reminder that no one is forgotten and lifelong connection is always possible.

"You can get off the train whenever you decide"

When you’re in the middle of it, it can feel like there’s no way forward. But Justin is living proof that things can change. He knows what it’s like to feel lost, and he also knows what it’s like to rebuild a life filled with meaning, hope, and love.

If you are struggling, or if someone you love is, know this: recovery is real, and support is out there. You don’t have to do it alone.

This Recovery Month, we celebrate voices like Justin’s. Because sharing hope is how we break stigma, build connection, and show that recovery is love.

09/22/2025

Justin’s story highlights what brought him back to Mountainside—not as a client, but as a staff member. After completing treatment here, Justin never imagined he’d one day return to support others on their recovery journey.

What inspired him? Gratitude. Connection. And the realization that his lived experience could help someone else feel less alone. Now, Justin is part of the same community that once walked alongside him, bringing empathy, understanding, and hope to every client he meets.

Recovery is not just about healing yourself, it’s about finding purpose, giving back, and helping others see what’s possible.

This is what makes Mountainside special: many of our team members know firsthand what it means to struggle, to heal, and to transform.

09/22/2025

Meet Justin. His journey began as a client here at Mountainside, walking through our doors at one of the most difficult points in his life. Recovery wasn’t easy—and like so many, Justin faced doubts about whether healing was even possible.

But through connection, compassion, and persistence, he discovered that recovery is more than a possibility—it’s a new way of living. Today, Justin shares what those first steps looked like, the challenges along the way, and what gave him the courage to keep going.

Recovery is not a straight line. It’s a process filled with setbacks, growth, and incredible resilience. Justin’s story reminds us that no matter how hopeless it may feel, change is possible.

This Recovery Month, we honor stories like Justin’s—because every voice matters, and every story helps break the stigma.
