The hockey stride is one of the most repetitive motions in sports. Pushing off thousands of times a game puts a massive amount of stress on your hips and groin, and over a season, those small tweaks really start to add up.

Whether it’s the repetitive nature of a skating stride or just the way you move during your daily routine, these small, constant motions are often what lead to nagging injuries. At Dynamic Edge, we’re all about catching those patterns before they sideline you. We take the time to look at how you move and help you stay on the ice: or just keep up with your day: without the constant ache.

If you’re feeling that repetitive wear and tear, come chat with us. We’ll help you get back to moving like yourself again.

Ever feel like your smart ring is just giving you more homework?

We love a good data set. Seeing your Resting Heart Rate (RHR) or Heart Rate Variability (HRV) every morning is a game changer for bio-hacking. In fact, research published in journals like Nature highlights that certain smart rings show a 0.98 correlation with clinical standards for heart rate tracking.

But a low recovery score doesn’t tell you how to fix it.

Data is only as good as what you do with it. If your HRV is tanking, is it because of overtraining, poor sleep hygiene, or a lingering injury? That’s where we come in. We help you interpret those metrics to adjust your movement, manage your load, and actually improve your longevity.

Don't just track your health: take action on it.

It’s easy to focus on how much you can bench, but if you’re playing the long game, your bench press isn’t the best metric for how well you’ll age.

Research shows that grip strength and balance are actually some of the most powerful predictors of long-term health and independence. One major study in The Lancet (Leong et al., 2015) found that grip strength was a stronger predictor of cardiovascular mortality than systolic blood pressure.

Why? Because grip strength acts as a proxy for overall muscle quality, and balance is the foundation for avoiding injury as we get older.

At Dynamic Edge, we’ve shifted the focus from just getting strong to building a body that lasts. We track metrics like your grip force, single-leg stability, and joint mobility to make sure you’re not just fit for today, but mobile for the next forty years.

Longevity isn't about one-rep maxes. It's about maintaining the ability to move through the world with confidence.

Big things are happening at Dynamic Edge! We’re pumped to announce that Dr. Curtis Swain is joining our team this March.

Curtis is a Marist grad and a former athlete through and through: he even captained a collegiate handball team. He didn't just stumble into PT; his passion started after his own shoulder surgery. He’s been on the other side of the table, so he truly understands the grit and patience it takes to get back to what you love.

Whether you're recovering from surgery or just trying to stay active, Curtis is here to help you push past your limits. As he puts it: “There’s nothing better than watching someone realize they’re capable of more than they thought.”

Welcome to the family, Curtis!

Thinking about surgery? It might not be your only path.

A lot of people get an MRI, see words like 'degeneration' or 'tears,' and assume surgery is the only fix. But the data tells a different story. A landmark study (Brinjikji et al., 2015) found that 37% of 20-year-olds and 96% of 80-year-olds have disc degeneration on their scans: with zero pain.

Your imaging is just a snapshot, not the whole story.

At Dynamic Edge, we focus on personalized, hands-on care that looks at how you move, not just what a scan says. We’ve seen many people avoid the operating room by focusing on movement and evidence-based recovery.

You’re more than a diagnosis. Let’s get you moving again on your own terms.

That ice storm this morning was no joke. The safest move is staying inside, but if you have to head out, it’s time to channel your inner penguin.

Walking like a penguin helps keep your center of gravity stable on slick surfaces. Here is how to do it:
- Take short, shuffling steps.
- Keep your feet flat and pointed slightly outward.
- Keep your center of gravity over your lead foot.
- Keep your arms out for balance (and keep your hands out of your pockets!).

For stairs, always use the railing. Place both feet on one step before moving to the next. Take your time: there is no rush when things are this slick.

Making Your Best... Even Better.

Stay safe out there. If you had a slip or fall and something doesn't feel right, reach out and we can help you get back on track.

Most recovery methods use compression, pushing down on your tissues. Therapeutic cupping does the opposite: it uses negative pressure (suction) to pull the skin and fascia away from the muscle.

This decompression creates space for fresh blood to reach 'stuck' areas, flushing out metabolic waste and helping the tissue glide more freely. It’s like giving your muscles the room they need to breathe and move.

A 2023 systematic review by Jan et al. found moderate evidence that cupping therapy effectively increases soft tissue flexibility and reduces musculoskeletal pain.

Ready to move better? Let’s reset your system.

Seeing Lindsey Vonn airlifted off the slopes in Cortina yesterday was a stark reminder of the limits of human biomechanics.

She attempted the Olympic downhill at nearly 80mph with a fully ruptured ACL. The fact that she could even click into her skis is a testament to "dynamic stability."

Without the ACL to act as a tether, the brain has to rewire the neuromuscular system. It forces the hamstrings and quads to take over 100% of the stabilization duty, firing in millisecond bursts to prevent the tibia from shearing forward.

Elite athletes are world-class "copers." They have the muscle density to compensate for structural damage. But there is a massive difference between a "silent" finding and a high-velocity mechanical failure. At 80mph, the margin for error is zero.

Whether you’re an Olympian or just trying to get back to your weekend hike, your recovery depends on building that functional stability.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Lindsey as she faces another long road to recovery. A true legend.

Stiff joints don’t have to be your new normal.

Joint mobilization is a skilled, hands-on technique we use to gently glide your joints through their natural range of motion. It’s not about force: it’s about precision. By helping those joint surfaces move the way they’re supposed to, we can significantly reduce pain and get you moving freely again.

Manual therapy has been shown to provide immediate improvements in mobility and function. Even if an MRI shows some 'wear and tear': which research by Brinjikji (2015) found is actually common in people with zero pain: joint mobilization focuses on how you actually feel and move in real life.

We take the time to get to know your specific goals, treating you like family while we work to get you back to the activities you love.

Ever feel like your stretching routine has hit a plateau?

If you're looking for a serious upgrade in mobility, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) is the gold standard. It’s a specialized technique where we use a 'contract-relax' method to essentially talk to your nervous system, allowing your muscles to reach a deeper range of motion safely.

Research confirms that PNF stretching is significantly more effective than traditional static stretching for increasing hip range of motion (Lim 2018). It’s one of the fastest ways we help our clients restore function and boost performance.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury or just trying to stay active and mobile for the long haul, this hands-on approach makes a massive difference compared to just holding a stretch on your own.
