Non-specific low back pain commonly arises from repetitive micro-injuries affecting the spine, intervertebral disks, and surrounding soft tissues in the absence of identifiable pathological lesions. In a recent experiment that included 90 office workers with non-specific low back pain, researchers found that core strengthening exercises are more effective than stretching for reducing pain and improving function. Doctors of chiropractic often advise patients to perform core strengthening exercises both to manage current low back pain and reduce the risk for recurrence.
