It was an exciting race on Saturday in Kentucky, and evidently, our residents had a fabulous time watching it. Those fashionistas at the Derby had nothing on our stylish group, who donned their finest hats for the occasion. (We hear that the mint juleps weren't bad either!) ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‘’๐Ÿนโ›‘๏ธ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ†

With our SVWC population growing, the need for more space in the woodworking shop became obvious. Many of our residents actively participate in creating gorgeous pieces to sell or repairing items for staff and residents. Over the past couple of months, construction has been underway to enlarge the popular space.

Our grand reopening celebrated their hard work, with tours of the bright, new area and artisans proudly displaying their creations. Highlighting residents' active role fosters pride and a sense of accomplishment within the community. This is just one more reason why our residents love living at SVWC! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿช›๐Ÿชš๐Ÿช‘

Another perk that our SVWC residents appreciate is easy access to a Bank! We recently relocated the First Bank satellite office from the Bistro area to beside the Resident Business Center. With new paint and furniture, and so much natural light, it's warm and welcoming. (As are the First Bank employees.) There was a reception to celebrate, with lots of goodies, per usual, including ice cream. (Notice how they were eagerly waiting in line for the delicious treat!) ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿฆ

Our "Pet of the Month" for April is Blizzard, owned by Villa residents, Gary and Edie Simpson. He turns 19 this month, and his first 18 years were spent patrolling the backyard at their home outside Phoenix, Arizona. As an indoor/outdoor cat, he brought them many gifts over the years - mostly birds, geckos, and lizards. He could stalk and capture with the best of them. His senior years may have eased his hunting instinct, but he still has the s***k to smack at you with his paw if you try to make him move from his favorite spot of the moment or try to pet him beyond his touching limits.

Blizzard has adapted amazingly well to apartment living, spending most of his time sleeping on his parents' bed, the couch, or, in nicer weather, sunning himself on the rear Villa balcony overlooking the main SVWC campus. He is grateful to have been selected as the Pet of the Month and will try to live up to the expectations that go along with such an honor. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿˆโค๐Ÿพ

We had another fabulous pop-up shop on campus, this time featuring J. Jill. It was incredibly popular, thanks to the brightly colored spring fashions and soft fabrics. There's nothing better than being able to walk down the hall to shop! ๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ‘
