This week, we welcomed Dr. Abigail Lawler, a movement disorders specialist with Inova’s Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Clinic, for a discussion on the newest treatment options for Parkinson’s Disease. She was welcomed by approximately 50 SVWC residents and guests from the Wi******er area and provided a very informative presentation.

Dr. Lawler's visit was a significant contribution to our community. Her engaging Q&A session, which focused on symptom management and quality of life for those living with PD and their care partners, was a valuable addition to our resources. We are grateful for her time and expertise, and we look forward to further collaboration in supporting those with PD.

When this photo was taken yesterday, the group of like-minded SVWC residents had just finished packing over 500 bags of food at Bright Futures. The bins behind them were filled with the bags that would be transported to schools for local schoolchildren to take home for the weekend.

They were all smiling because volunteering is known to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety, and to boost overall health and satisfaction with life. In fact, in 2024, 68 SVWC resident volunteers donated 8,095 hours on campus and 2,804 hours to 18 non-profit organizations in the greater Wi******er community for education, animal welfare, food pantries, healthcare, and more. Yes, indeed, our SVWC residents are THE ABSOLUTE BEST! 🥰💕👍🏼

At SVWC, our love for pets has led to the creation of a second dog park in the Villa neighborhood. Today, we celebrated the significant addition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This park, made possible by a generous donation from a Villa resident, will undoubtedly enhance our community's quality of life. The excitement was palpable, with both the pups and the peeps sharing in the joy! 🐕🐩🐶🦮🐕‍🦺

Think PINK!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SVWC designated last Friday as "Pink Day." It was the perfect occasion for a parade that concluded in the courtyard, with a sea of pink.

This gathering was not just a visual spectacle; it held deep emotional significance as we have all been affected by this disease. May the courageous fight to find a cure continue! 👏💗🥰🎉
