Today marks 10 YEARS of SkyClimb! A full decade of growing, learning, and serving incredible kids and families. What started as a dream has now become a team of 10 (what a coincidence!) amazing occupational therapists working side by side to make life easier (and brighter!) for the children we serve.

And because milestones deserve new beginnings… our brand-new website launches today! 🚀
👉 www.skyclimbcenter.com

Even more special? On this same day, in this same space, our sister practice [Without Limits Speech] was born. 💙 Together, we’ve grown into something bigger, supporting families across speech and occupational therapy.

We couldn’t be prouder of the beautiful humans on our team and the families who’ve trusted us on this journey.

Here’s to the next 10 years of climbing higher! ☁️✨

Join us at Laurel Ridge for Seminar & a Slice with the Apple Valley Chapter of VAAEYC. This session connects the dots between sensory play, regulation, and real-life learning. Come see how small motor moments rewire the nervous system and set kids up for success!

🍕+ ✋+ 🧠 = A recipe for growth!

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Terin Fetty, April Willingham and Erinn Throckmorton with SkyClimb Sensory Development Center to Laurel Ridge Sept. 24 for Seminar and a Slice - Early Insights: Identifying Sensory Challenges in Motor Skills, Play and Emotional Regulation. Calm is contagious. “Reasoning” with your child (higher level brain function) doesn’t work when there is a traffic jam at the brain stem (lower level brain function). Calm yourself first, your child can feel that and find calm faster.

Ever tried reasoning with your child mid-meltdown—and got nowhere?

Here’s why:
When a child is dysregulated, it’s like there’s a traffic jam in their brain. Emotions have blocked the road, and nothing—not rewards, not consequences, not even your calmest logic—can get through.

What they need first isn’t correction.
It’s connection.

Help them clear the jam by offering co-regulation: a steady presence, deep breaths, or even just sitting quietly together. Once their “road” is clear again, then you can talk, teach, and guide.

Save this as a reminder: Calm first, teach later.

Such a wonderful time celebrating Ms. Christina and her baby in bloom! We sure will miss her when she leaves for maternity leave in a few weeks. Ms. Amy made her a beautiful quilt for baby Lennon 🩷
