March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a good reminder to take care of your health and stay on top of recommended screenings.

If you are 45 or older, it is time to schedule a screening colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is highly preventable when caught early, and screening is one of the most effective ways to detect it before symptoms begin.

Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most diagnosed cancer in the US. But the good news is there are more than 1.5 million survivors of colorectal cancer in the United States. Because colorectal cancer is preventable with screening. Colorectal cancer doesn't always show symptoms—that's why it's so important to get screened. If you're 45 or older, it's time to get screened. Find any potential warning signs of colon cancer early, when treatment is most effective. Talk to your provider about scheduling your colonoscopy.

A heartfelt moment at Centerpoint Health – Wi******er! 💙

Meet Barbara, an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan who hasn’t missed attending an SEC Tournament since the late 1970s! This year, however, the tournament looks a little different for Barbara, as she is cheering on the Cats from her hospital room.

During daily leadership rounding, Jason Thomas, Director of Facilities Management, stopped by Barbara’s room. When Jason asked if there was anything he could do for them, Barbara’s son jokingly mentioned that it would be tough to watch the tournament on the small TV in the room.

Jason took that comment and ran with it. For the next UK game, he wheeled in a large TV so Barbara and her family could enjoy the game together. Since then, he has continued bringing it in for every UK game during the tournament.

Barbara shared how thankful she is and said it truly means the world to her.

Thank you, Jason, for going above and beyond for this patient. Moments like these are a reminder that community hospitals provide compassionate care in so many ways, even from our non-clinical staff.
