Back in the 60’s the sugar industry ran ads to fool people into believing that sugar was a diet food…
“Nibble on a cookie an hour before lunch”
“Have a soft drink before your main meal”
“Think of sugar as extra willpower”...“Only 18 calories per teaspoon”
They went on to pay Harvard scientists who said it wasn’t the sugar in our diets causing heart disease, but actually the fat.
These scientists didn’t disclose their industry funding, while they secretly pocketed the equivalent of $50,000 (in today’s dollars) from a sugar industry trade association.
Americans were TRICKED into eating more and more sugar...and it worked! The food industry started adding it to everything.
Now that we know the truth, it’s so hard to stop eating it.
