As I settle into the waiting for my own baby to arrive I wanted to spend some time over the next few weeks talking about CFT. Craniosacral fascial release therapy has been life changing for so many families I’ve had the honor of working with, and I’ve seen it in my own family.

I learned of CFT several years ago when I was planning on taking the training. Fast forward a few years and we needs body work for my daughter as we prepared her for an ALF palate expander. I saw first had the release of tension in so many areas I had no idea her body had. As I’ve been able to work on her myself, I see the continued results of occasional check ins and resets with CFT. It’s really life changing.

We all have tension, and in short (very short) CFT releases/unwinds/loosens the facia that covers our bodies head to toe to for allow healing, reduction of pain, growth, and expansion. Surprisingly almost every baby I see is born with tension, the birth journey, even when straightforward with no complications causes tension. It can come from maternal stress in utero or just the passage through the birth canal. It’s that simple. As young kids and adults we fall, we get stressed, we have poor posture, we have injuries, our jobs are demanding, the list goes on, but so much can cause tension in our bodies. And through my work as a CFT I’ve been able to watch that unwind and release for babies, kids and adults.

I’ve always been in touch with body work and am a Gillespie trained CFT serving families whatever capacity they need. As is fitting, we’ll start at the beginning. Next time, I’ll dive into CFT for babies annd different issues that can be worked on annd supported. Check out my website for a bit more info.

Midwifery care is family centered. The best thing about this is that siblings get to learn how normal this process can be, they see the hard work and reward at the end. When they grow up to have their own babies, they will remember this experience. This is how you normalize birth. Check out these big sisters listing to baby! 🤩

Today is International Day of the Midwife! I am so thankful for all the Midwives who came before me, taught me, midwifed me, and all of those who will come after me to keep this vocation going.

After several weeks of no births, I started my morning off with a fantastic birth, as is fitting for a day like today.

Midwifery (in and out of the hospital) really is the answer to our maternal and infant mortality issues in America. It’s a unique relationship, built with each family, to help them safely AND peacefully bring their babies into this world.

Thank your midwife today!

Veritas Baby #6/2024 Help me congratulate this NICU graduate. She is now home snuggling with her mama at home where she belongs. Sometimes plans change and sometimes our babies need to be born early. This little lady came at 33 weeks and after 5 weeks in the nicu she got to go home! We are always so thankful for a higher level of care when needed. I am so proud of her mama and papa for navigating this unexpected change with such grace. Yes, Midwifery is about home birth, but it is also about recognizing when changes need to be made.

This little lady is Veritas Midwifery baby #4/2024 and she decided to make her entrance on a Thursday, which is turning out to be one of our most popular days to have a baby, followed by Fridays. When I got the call that things had ramped up, her mama said, can you just come here, I do not think I can get into the car for the birth center? 1.5 hours after my arrival at her home, this little lady came spiraling into this world caught by her mama and papa. Supported by an amazing Doula and the Veritas Midwifery team.
