My HG baby is about to turn 5 in October. I am still healing from trauma and PTSD from her pregnancy and HG.
I received a picc line with TPN & 24/7 zofran at 12 weeks. Before that I was on a zofran pump which worked for a while but stopped. I had the picc line and iv nutrition until delivery. I am terrified of throwing up. There are foods I will not eat because of the pregnancy and it has been hard to eat in general because of the trauma.
You’re not alone and you’re not being dramatic.
With the advances in nutrition and fluid replacements, most women survive hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) with few life-threatening complications. However, the stress, pain, and helplessness of HG cause persistent psychological distress for many women. Today is National PTSD Awareness Day, and it's important for our community to understand the mental health impacts of HG because those who have experienced HG have a greater risk for PTSD.
