A Statement from the CEO of NAMI Greater Orlando
October 16th, 2025

The recent deaths by su***de among students in Seminole County have left our community heartbroken and grieving deeply. As the CEO of NAMI Greater Orlando, I want to express our profound condolences to the families, friends, classmates, educators, and the entire Seminole County community affected by this tragedy.

These young lives—filled with potential, promise, and purpose—were lost far too soon. Our hearts ache alongside every student, parent, teacher, and neighbor who is struggling to make sense of this pain. Please know that you are not alone in your grief or in your healing.

In moments like this, we are reminded that mental health is community health. NAMI Greater Orlando stands with our partners—the Mental Health Association of Central Florida, Recovery Connections of Central Florida, the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, Ali’s Hope Foundation, and others—in offering compassion, education, and tangible support to those in crisis. Together, we are committed to ensuring that help and hope remain within reach for every individual and family.

We also extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to the Seminole County Public Schools community. The loss is felt not only by those directly impacted but across our entire region. We stand ready to support schools, students, and parents through mental health awareness initiatives, educational programs, and peer-led support opportunities.

To anyone who may be struggling: please reach out. You do not have to face this pain alone. There is help, there is hope, and there are people who care.

💚🧠 World Mental Health Day 2025: A Statement from our CEO, Freddy Morello

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we pause to reaffirm a simple but powerful truth — mental health is health. Around the world and here in Central Florida, this day reminds us that every conversation, every act of compassion, and every step toward understanding has the power to change a life.

At NAMI Greater Orlando, we witness hope in action every day. We see it in the strength of individuals finding their voice, in families standing together, and in communities that refuse to let stigma silence the conversation. Through education, advocacy, and support, we are building a future where mental wellness is embraced and no one ever feels alone in their journey.

We have come a long way in breaking down barriers, confronting stigma, and supporting those in need — but there is still a long way to go. Every step forward reminds us that lasting change requires persistence, compassion, and community.

So today, I ask each of us to take one more step — reach out to someone who might be struggling, share your own story, or simply listen without judgment. Together, we can keep pushing forward, breaking stigma, and spreading hope. Because when we show up for one another, we make the world a healthier, more compassionate place for all.
