The first week with your braces can sometimes feel a little tough! We have some tips that can help you take on the first week with ease!

1️⃣ Pain medication can be taken to relieve pain and pressure. Anything that you would take for a headache! It does take a little time to adjust to your braces, but it will become easier and pain free after a few days!

2️⃣ Choose what your eat carefully! It is best to choose softer foods and cold drinks to help with some of your tenderness. Once you begin to feel comfortable again, you can switch back to your normal diet. With the exceptions of hard, sticky and chewy! You don’t want any broken brackets or loose wires.

3️⃣WAX! Orthodontic wax will quickly become your best friend. Wires and brackets can irritate your cheeks and lips for the first few days. Wax can help prevent any further irritation and come in handy while your teeth are adjusting. We don’t recommend always using wax though! Why? Well, because we want your lips and cheeks to “toughen up” in order to not be bothered by your appliances!

4️⃣ Saltwater rinse. You may also swish with salt water to ease sore areas of the mouth from braces. It will facilitate healing and lessen discomfort. Warm salt water is best!

5️⃣ Practice excellent oral hygiene. Bring a to-go oral hygiene kit wherever you go. It’s quick, easy and painless! This will help keep your teeth healthy and make sure your smile always looks great. No one wants left over food in their teeth all day!

6️⃣ Be patient! Your straighter teeth are a few moments away. We can’t wait to see the beautiful outcome and your smiling faces!!
