Happy News !!

Break out the Stork Stickers!!

We are so excited for GCEMS Paramedic Burgher, and EMTs Bruck and Sprout, who were able to deliver a healthy happy little boy last night! Thank you also to Greene County, NY 911 Dispatcher Vantassel for the imminent delivery coaching and keeping mom calm!

Field Deliveries don’t happen very often, and there are a lot of considerations and possible complications to manage (aside from “magically” making a second patient appear)

We are so happy for all of the providers involved on this landmark call in their careers! Mom and baby are healthy and well!

Great job !

At 19:07 Company 19 along with the Twin Cloves Technical Rescue Team was requested into the Tannersville Fire District for two stranded rock climbers in the Platte Clove Preserve area. Upon arrival Tannersville command advised that they were still trying to locate the victims. Centerville car 19 established command at the scene. Centerville Car 2 and Manpower assisted with locating the climbers and established initial patient contact. The Climbers were located approximately 120' down a vertical face. Initial patient evaluation concluded that the climbers were in good health with no injuries. Crews assessed the best access to the patients as well as resources required. Additional crews from Rescue 3, the Twin Cloves Tech Rescue Team, and City of Kingston Fire arrived on scene and established a rope system utilizing a twin tension system to haul the stranded climbers up out of the ravine to safety. A rescuer repelled approximately 120' down into the ravine to access the climbers. It was confirmed that the climbers had no injuries and were in healthy condition. The climbers were attached to the system and hoisted to the top of the ravine. Both climbers were turned over to Greene County Medics and Hunter Ambulance for evaluation and both were ok. From time of first entry into the woods to the climbers being out and in care was approximately one and a half hours. All units were clear of the scene at 21:42. Also on scene were Greene County Sheriff's Office, Hunter Police, NYSDEC, and Hunter Ambulance. Once again a great collaborative effort between multiple agencies providing a swift and positive outcome for the patients with upmost care.

Please join us in congratulating Nancy Montesano on her Statewide recognition as the 2025 EMS Educator of Excellence! To work beside Nancy is a true honor.

A snippet from her nomination speaks volumes:
"According to the NYS DOH Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems database, as of the end of her Spring 2025 EMT classes, Nancy will have served as the CIC of Record for nine hundred and sixty-seven students. Let me phrase that differently; thirty-three students short of ONE THOUSAND. In addition to this, Nancy has served as an active member of the SUNY Cobleskill Paramedic Program lab faculty since 2014. In doing so, she has played a key part in the education of approximately another three hundred students as one of their paramedic lab instructors. When you add these numbers up, it shows that over her thirty-five year career (so far) as an educator, Nancy has been an integral part of the education of at least 1,267 students in our profession. Beyond the sheer impact of the numbers, as a paramedic educator, I can tell you that when
you get one of Nancy's EMTs in your paramedic class, you KNOW that they were hers. They are able to perform an assessment and treat a patient in a manner that very very few other new EMT graduates can. On top of this, they understand the importance of compassion and empathy in patient care. They have these things because Nancy has imprinted them upon her students year after year."

Nancy will receive her award at the NYS EMS Vital Signs Conference in November in Syracuse. Come join our faculty in celebrating her!

Congratulations Nancy !

RIP 🙏🏻

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our friend and colleague, Paramedic Jeff Jones.

Jeff died in the line of duty while serving his Woodward County EMS community. For 28 years, he dedicated his life to providing emergency medical care across the state of Oklahoma with skill, compassion, and courage. He was always answering the call to help others.

Those who knew Jeff will remember his contagious smile, quick wit, and sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest days. He had a gift for lifting spirits, both with his patients and his fellow EMS family, and his presence on every call made a difference.

Jeff’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the comfort he brought to patients and families, and the brotherhood and sisterhood of EMS he helped strengthen.

Please join us in keeping Jeff’s family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time. We are forever grateful for his service and the joy he brought to so many.

Rest easy, Jeff. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. 💙
