1 hour is great, 90 minutes is better, 2 hours is best.
Why?
It takes 45 minutes for your parasympathetic nervous system to activate. This is your body’s natural relaxation response. Your “rest and digest” state. With an hour long massage you are just starting to relax and time is up!
Don’t get me wrong an hour long massage can be great if you’re looking to work out a knot or two, or if you’re short on time but if you are truly looking for relaxation a 90 minute or 2 hour massage is what your body needs!
