To continue our Annual Appeal Storytellers series, we have a two-for-one special, as the dynamic father/daughter duo of Barry and Abby Schwartz were generous enough to share what it means for the both of them to volunteer with our organization🎿!
Barry started volunteering with the ASF 30 years ago, and after a hiatus to raise his family, he came back to our volunteer ranks, this time with his daughter, Abby. Many volunteers and participants remember when Barry would talk about and bring baby Abby around the ASF, and when Abby was old enough to volunteer, everyone welcomed her as if she was their niece!
Abby, who began volunteering as a sophomore in high school, is all grown up now and just graduated from her master's program in prosthetics and orthotics👩🎓. She credits the ASF for inspiring her in her career-path decision🦾.
The passion that the Schwartz family has for our organization is shared among all of our participants, volunteers, and donors. Whether our volunteers are blood related, like Barry and Abby, or bonded by the green jacket, there's no denying that the ASF is one big family, and we all treasure our reunions each and every winter❄️💚!
TAs we approach the giving season, please consider donating to the Adaptive Sports Foundation's Annual Appeal. Your support allows students to come up and experience wonderful outdoor activities under the supervision and tutelage of outstanding volunteers, such as the Barry and Abby💚.
