To continue our Annual Appeal Storytellers series, we have a two-for-one special, as the dynamic father/daughter duo of Barry and Abby Schwartz were generous enough to share what it means for the both of them to volunteer with our organization🎿!

Barry started volunteering with the ASF 30 years ago, and after a hiatus to raise his family, he came back to our volunteer ranks, this time with his daughter, Abby. Many volunteers and participants remember when Barry would talk about and bring baby Abby around the ASF, and when Abby was old enough to volunteer, everyone welcomed her as if she was their niece!

Abby, who began volunteering as a sophomore in high school, is all grown up now and just graduated from her master's program in prosthetics and orthotics👩‍🎓. She credits the ASF for inspiring her in her career-path decision🦾.

The passion that the Schwartz family has for our organization is shared among all of our participants, volunteers, and donors. Whether our volunteers are blood related, like Barry and Abby, or bonded by the green jacket, there's no denying that the ASF is one big family, and we all treasure our reunions each and every winter❄️💚!

TAs we approach the giving season, please consider donating to the Adaptive Sports Foundation's Annual Appeal. Your support allows students to come up and experience wonderful outdoor activities under the supervision and tutelage of outstanding volunteers, such as the Barry and Abby💚.

Believe it or not, we're just 🔟 weeks away from ringing in the year 2026🤯! The season of giving is approaching fast, and we're excited to share that our Annual Appeal is kicking off TODAY💚!

Last year, thanks to your generosity and a matching grant from Select Equity Group Foundation, we grew our Annual Fund by an incredible 85%! These donations helped us achieve significant milestones like empowering 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ athletes during last year's winter season⛷️🏂!

This year, our annual appeal will feature the stories of eight individuals who are closely related to our organization. Our first story teller is our Development Director, Olivia Antsis! Last winter, Olivia was faced with significant personal loss and challenges. With help from her support system at home and with the ASF, and through courage, resilience, and the power of community, Olivia was able to rise above. She realized that our students face similar challenges and rise above in the same way💚

As we approach the giving season, please consider donating to the Adaptive Sports Foundation's Annual Appeal. Your gift is our students' joy, as your support empowers the lives of children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, individuals with chronic illnesses, and wounded veterans to transform their lives through adaptive sports, education, and community💚

John is a brand new father, as his daughter was born just a couple of months ago in July (on his birthday too🎂), and part of his motivation to run the marathon is to see her and his wife cheering him on as he crosses the finish line🏅!
