The numbers are clear: Maine’s ophthalmologists cannot meet the current demand of patients, leading to longer wait times for patients who need critical eye health services.

Optometrists practice in 15 of Maine’s 16 counties, providing eye care access to 92% of our state’s population.

Three counties don’t have any ophthalmologists, and two counties have only one.

A new calendar year often means new insurance coverage for many patients.

Please be sure to check with your insurance provider to confirm that routine eye exams are a covered service and to see whether you have benefits for materials such as glasses or contact lenses.

While we are contracted with many insurance plans, we are not in network with all of them. We kindly ask that you verify your insurance coverage and confirm that we are in network before your upcoming appointment.
