👏Congratulations to the Laboratory on receiving an internal “Ask For Anything” grant through the Foundation! Their request was for new devices for blood culture collection. These little but mighty devices help reduce blood contamination rates during blood draws. 🔬
Contamination risk is a big deal, as it can lead to misdiagnosis, misuse of antibiotics, or prolonged hospital stays. The Lab at Windom Area Health is always looking for innovative ways to improve safety, prevent contamination, and exceed standards, and this device will do just that.
➡️These devices (called the Kurin Jet) will help ensure that the best possible blood sample is collected while keeping patients comfortable. “Kurin offers the only passive device to meet the CDC guidance on reducing blood culture contamination,” according to the Kurin website. These devices will help our Lab deliver accurate results, save time and resources, and better serve providers and patients.
Thank you to the Lab department, and thank you to donors who make projects like this possible!
