šŸŽƒšŸ§ Cupcake pumpkins? Pumpkin cupcakes? We’re still not sure… but we are sure we had a blast!

Assistant Chef Sarah from Stonebrook Village brought her cupcake-decorating magic to the Simsbury Senior Center, and let’s just say—Martha Stewart might be getting nervous. šŸ˜‰

The group learned how to turn cupcakes into adorable little pumpkins… and maybe snuck in a taste test or two for quality control, of course! Lots of laughs, lots of sprinkles, and plenty of ā€œWait… how did you make yours look so perfect?ā€ moments.
Everyone left with a decorated cupcake—and a little more sugar in their system than they planned. 🧁✨

Thanks, Chef Sarah, for a festive and delicious afternoon! šŸŽƒšŸ§”

Today we proudly celebrated Veterans Day with a heartfelt luncheon ceremony honoring the incredible 22 veterans who call our community home. The veterans were recognized with a citation from Representative Jane Garibay and gifted a patriotic pillow as a token of our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
The afternoon continued with a specially prepared meal, shared among friends and neighbors as we reflected on the courage and dedication of those who have served our nation. Today we celebrate the strength of America’s heroes. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who served and continue to inspire us every day.
We are deeply thankful for our veterans—today and every day.

šŸ‡āœØ Wine & Wisdom! āœØšŸ·

Our residents enjoyed a delightful afternoon of learning and sipping as we tuned in to an educational college lecture series all about the white wines of California! From Chardonnay to Sauvignon Blanc, we explored the vineyards, history, and flavors that make these wines so special — all while enjoying a few tastings of our own!

Cheers to lifelong learning and good company! šŸ“š

Today was a truly special day at our community.
We had the honor of celebrating three of our beloved residents — Bob, Joseph, and Vern — who were recognized for their military service during a moving Quilts of Honor ceremony.

The mission of Quilts of Honor is to present a tangible symbol of gratitude, comfort, and remembrance to the brave men and women who have stood in harm’s way to protect our freedoms. Each quilt is lovingly handmade by the dedicated volunteers of the Windsor Locks Senior Center quilting group — every stitch woven with appreciation, respect, and love for those who have served.

Our community was filled with warmth and pride as Windsor Locks students, the school superintendent, state dignitaries, members of the police and fire departments, families, and residents all came together to pay tribute to these heroes.

To Bob, Joseph, and Vern — thank you for your courage, your service, and your sacrifice. Today, and always, we honor you. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

A big shoutout to Monica Marcello for her fantastic presentation on How Gut Health Affects Parkinson’s Disease! Who knew our stomachs were running the show this whole time? The talk was packed with enlightening info and some serious ā€œaha!ā€ moments about living better with Parkinson’s.

And let’s not forget Chef Don and his amazing team — they served up a dinner (and dessert!) so good, we’re crossing our fingers it was as gut-friendly as it was delicious. If not… well, totally worth it!

šŸ¬ The sweetest sockhop around!šŸ¬
Our staff went back to the fabulous ’50s for a fun reverse trick-or-treating event! Dressed in poodle skirts, leather jackets, and classic retro flair, we cruised down the halls and went door to door handing out sweet treats to our wonderful residents. šŸ«
Spreading smiles and laughter faster than a jukebox tune! We had plenty of candy to go around and spread some Halloween cheer— it was a blast from the past - because who says trick-or-treating is just for kids? šŸ

šŸ’œ Stonebrook Walks to End Alzheimer’s! šŸ’œ

Our team proudly joined the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and what a wonderful day it was! The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful, and we had a fantastic turnout of staff, families, and friends — all walking together for a cause that’s close to our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the fight to end Alzheimer’s. Together, this Village is making a difference, one step at a time! šŸ‘Ÿ
