Several Medicare Advantage insurers have announced they will no longer offer plans in Vermont and New Hampshire starting in 2026. TOMORROW, our Healthcare Connect Navigator will give a talk at the Windsor Public Library to help community members understand recent changes in Medicare.

This fall’s Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period (now through December 7) is especially important for patients affected by carrier withdrawals or network changes in Vermont and New Hampshire. This phenomenon is not unique to our region – it is playing out this fall in rural markets across the country. Visit www.medicare.gov to learn about open enrollment and compare your Medicare coverage options.

Patients can also go to one of the following sources for further guidance during this year’s Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period:
• For Medicare-eligible patients and for those transferring from Medicare Advantage plans: https://www.medicare.gov/health-drug-plans/open-enrollment
• VT residents can visit the Vermont State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). Call 1-800-642-5119.
• NH residents may contact the NHID’s Consumer Services Unit at 1-800-852-3416 or consumerservices@ins.nh.gov.
• Local resources: Senior Solutions—Area Agency on Aging for Southeastern Vermont (83 Pleasant St., Springfield, VT, 802-885-2669) and NH Care Collaborative (Sullivan County Aging and Disability Resource Center, 33 Arbor Way, Charlestown, NH, 603-542-5177)
