🚨🚨Weather conditions have rapidly deteriorated and have created hazardous driving conditions. ‼️PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROAD‼️You are not only endangering yourselves but the lives of others and first responders as well! Response times have SLOWED significantly due to the hazardous weather and will continue to be impacted until further notice. STAY SAFE, STAY HOME‼️‼️🚨🚨

❄️LET IT SNOW❄️

As we all know we are expecting some winter precipitation between this evening into tonight and tomorrow afternoon. While we are all excited to see some snow please keep the following tips in mind for staying safe during this weather event!

*If at all possible STAY OFF THE ROADS!
-If you must be out on the highways, REDUCE speeds and increase your following distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

*Preplan your routes! Monitor the weather and try to stay on the main roads. Secondary roads may not have had any treatment for ice or have yet to be plowed after accumulation.

*Dress WARM! All exposed areas of skin may be susceptible to frostbite if exposed for prolonged periods of time. Change any wet/soaked clothes immediately. This will help prevent hypothermia.

*Reduce your time outside. If you have to be outside be sure to dress appropriately!

*Stay Hydrated! Surprisingly cold weather can also cause you to become dehydrated!

Please continue to remain weather aware during this event! Stay safe and stay warm!

Bertie County EMS was in the season of giving back! Over the past few weeks we as an agency have come together to give back to our community.
We adopted a child for Christmas through our local DSS and his whole list was completed. ❤️
We donated blankets made from previous (unused) uniform shirts to ECU Health Cancer Center for them to give to cancer patients. 🩷

Bertie County EMS hosted their annual December meeting this past week! 🎄
Good food and good fellowship with everyone who attended. We appreciate all that you guys do for us throughout the year. Awards were given out to celebrate some of the great accomplishments we had this year (not all pictured).
We even had a surprise visitor! Santa dropped by for the little ones 💚💛

“HERO’S WORK HERE”

This morning emergency responders were dispatched to a residence in reference to a person who was unresponsive and not breathing. Bertie County EMS and Deputy Sheriff’s responded and provided life saving measures on the patient.

Because of the outstanding work of Bertie EMS services, the patient lived and was transported to the local hospital.

This is another great example of being called to serve. Going beyond the call of duty. Stories like this must be told and we must continue to praise and thank our first responders for the work they do.

We must also include the Bertie County Communication Center for their outstanding work to provide first responders the pertinent information needed.

Thank you Chowan County for having us participate in the Wings Over Edenton event! It was a pleasure helping out our neighbors! Beautifully planned and well executed! Hope to collaborate again in the future!

Bertie County EMS helped supply a paramedic ambulance and an EMT-B ATV to help with the event.

The prayers, thoughts, kind words and good vibes have all been very much appreciated. Bertie county’s first crew has completed their mission in Western NC and is back home safe and sound.
