JULY BOOK SPOTLIGHT ❤📚: The Goodbye Book by Todd Parr

In a recent group, we read The Goodbye Book by Todd Parr, a touching and hopeful story told through the lens of a pet fish who has lost its companion.

The book gently explores the many emotions children may feel when saying goodbye to someone they love. It reminded us all that it’s okay to not have all the answers and that support is always nearby.

Using this story as a guide, we facilitated meaningful conversations about grief, helping the children identify their feelings and reflect on their own experiences of loss.

Some days are quiet. Others crash over you. As summer brings us closer to the sea, may you find small moments of peace in the sunshine, the breeze, or the rhythm of the waves. 💙

Grief has a way of breaking us open. Sometimes, in that brokenness, something tender and new begins to grow. 🌷

Rumi reminds us that even in our sorrow, compassion can bloom. For ourselves. For others. For the journey.

If you’re grieving, be gentle. You’re tending a garden you can’t yet see. 💚

On Sunday, June 22nd, we came together for our annual Family Project Day, a special time to remember and honor our loved ones through creativity and connection.

Our families created beautiful wind chimes as lasting keepsakes, each one a tribute to cherished memories. It was a meaningful day filled with reflection, and togetherness.

This year, we received a visit from Gadget, the beloved therapy dog. His gentle presence brought comfort, joy, and lots of tail wags to everyone who met him.

Thank you to all the families and volunteers who joined us in making this day so special. 🫶

JUNE BOOK SPOTLIGHT ❤📚: It's OK That You're Not OK: Meeting Grief and Loss in a Culture That Doesn't Understand by: Megan Devine

This book offers a profound new approach to both the experience of grief and the way we try to help others who have endured tragedy. Having experienced grief from both sides, as both a therapist and as a woman who witnessed the accidental drowning of her beloved partner, Megan writes with deep insight about the unspoken truths of loss, love, and healing. She debunks the culturally prescribed goal of returning to a normal, “happy” life, replacing it with a far healthier middle path, one that invites us to build a life alongside grief rather than seeking to overcome it.

International Widows Day was created to bring attention to the unique hardships widows face- not only the grief of losing a partner, but also the social and financial struggles that can follow, especially in communities where widows are marginalized or forgotten.

This isn’t a day anyone asks to be part of. It’s not a title anyone wants. Being widowed is painful, isolating, and deeply unfair. It can feel like life split into “before” and “after,” with no clear roadmap for the in-between.

We’re not here to call you strong or to celebrate your resilience.
We’re here to say: we see you. Your loss is real. Your grief matters. You are not alone.

If today (and every day) feels heavy, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re grieving someone you love- and that grief deserves space, acknowledgment, and care. We’re holding that space with you.

If you or someone you know is widowed and in need of support, please reach out to us. We have a group for young widows and widowers and many resources available for all after a loss.💜

We recognize that grief lives in the body as much as in the mind and heart. Today on International Day of Yoga and World Music Day, we are reminded of two powerful ways our bodies and hearts can find healing after loss.

Practices like Energy Medicine Yoga (EM Yoga) gently help us reconnect with our breath, release stuck emotions that settle in the body, and provide support to our nervous system.

Music, too, can speak to grief in ways language cannot. A song, a melody, or even a rhythm can hold space for our pain, offer comfort or bring us deeper into a memory.

If you’re grieving, we invite you to pause today to engage in a small act of care; breathe, stretch, move and listen.

Grieving isn’t linear and neither is healing, but small, intentional moments like these can help us begin to heal. 💙
