Mary’s Place is a non-profit center for grieving children and families located in Windsor, CT.

We believe:
• Grief is a natural reaction to death for children as well as adults;
• Within each individual is the natural capacity to heal oneself;
• The duration and intensity of grief are unique for each individual; and
• Caring and acceptance assist in the healing process.

OCTOBER BOOK SPOTLIGHT ❤📚: The Memory Box A Book About Grief by Joanna Rowland

When a loved one dies, children need consolation, love, support, and affection. The Memory Box addresses this difficult subject sensitively. This book can help start the grieving process and support children to talk about their loved one in a normal healthy way.

Our hearts were overflowing once again at this year’s Unite in Love Luncheon, where our community came together to support the hope and healing that Mary’s Place provides to grieving children and families. We were honored to share the afternoon with so many compassionate friends, and deeply moved by the personal stories that were generously shared.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing guest speakers, our wonderful emcee Pete Fortier, and to all our volunteers who helped in making this event, and our mission, possible.

To everyone who attended and supported, we thank you.

SEPTEMBER BOOK SPOTLIGHT ❤📚: When Someone You Love Has Died by Stephanie Seidler

This heartfelt, and compassionate children's picture book gently addresses the topic of death and the experiences that come with it. Through sensitive storytelling and beautiful illustrations, this book offers reassurance and comfort while guiding young readers through the process of understanding and coping with their emotions during a difficult time. This book uses honest and accessible language, helps to valid feelings, offers coping strategies and is an excellent resource for caregivers and educators.
