CHR at !

Several leaders from CHR were recently in Denver, participating in the annual conference of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Known as NatCon, the conference brings together policy leaders, experts, and behavioral health advocates each year from across the country to deliver solution-driven workshops and sessions related to mental health and substance use treatment. CHR was honored to attend NatCon again this year and returned feeling inspired!

Yesterday, CHR was honored to participate in the Nonprofit Rally & Lobby Day hosted by The Alliance: The Voice of Community Nonprofits at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford. Together with thousands of people from nonprofits across the state, we advocated for meaningful funding increases for community nonprofits in the final state budget, as well as increasing Medicaid reimbursements for outpatient behavioral health.

The need for increased nonprofit funding and increasing Medicaid reimbursements is critical for organizations like CHR, which are facing a higher demand for mental health services. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this cause!

Thank you to Venessa Samuel-Steinmetz, Clinical Program Director for CHR, for her incredible remarks during the rally! “Funding for agencies like CHR is critical for supporting frontline workers to continue showing up each day to inspire real hope, real connections, and real change,” she said.

Special thanks to legislators who attended the rally, including State Senator Matt Lesser, State Representative Jillian Gilchrest, State Representative Anthony Nolan, State Representative Nick Menapace, and more.

CHR is advocating at the Capitol!

CHR recently attended Non-Profit Day at the Capitol, organized by The Alliance: The Voice of Community Nonprofits, alongside 65 other organizations dedicated to strengthening communities across the state. Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to connect directly with local policymakers including Gordon for Senate, underscoring the vital importance of continued funding and the meaningful impact CHR has on people’s lives every day.

It was great to get out into the heart of Connecticut and advocate, educate, and collaborate with others.
