The fourth installment of the Radcliff Lecture Series on Rural Health was held in Winfield on April 2, inviting area leaders, community members, and hospital stakeholders to join the conversation on innovation and adversity in the rural healthcare landscape. Dr. Nancy Dickey, physician, educator, and leader from Texas A&M, spoke on the importance of community support as a value-add to hospitals, and how this can impact the future of rural healthcare.
Dr. Dickey's engaging lecture set the stage for meaningful conversation, leading into a lively panel discussion offering valuable insights on access to care, recruitment, advocacy, and community involvement.
During the lecture, Jill Docking, on behalf of the William Newton Hospital and WNHF staff and boards, presented the first naming opportunity of Phase II of the Second Century Campaign: the Emergency Department Expansion. We are excited to share that the new access road to the ambulance bay will be named Radcliff Drive in honor of Paula Radcliff, recognizing her years of service to WNH both as a healthcare provider and campaign leader.
Panelist included Gigi Fergus, MBA, BSN, RN, William Newton Hospital; Michelle Vann, ThD, DCC, MS, American Heart Association - Kansas; Katie Wilson, General Electric; Jennifer Findley, Kansas Hospital Association; Becky Reid, K-State Extension - Cowley County; and Allyson Henley, MPH, City-Cowley County Health Department
Thank you to our panelists and community members for shaping the future of care at William Newton Hospital! ๐ฅ
