If you’ve been thinking about making a career move—or just need a fresh start—there’s a local opportunity coming up that could open some doors.
The Lawrence County Community of Churches is hosting its 2026 Job Fair on Tuesday, April 28, bringing together employers from across Northwest Alabama for a full day of hiring, networking, and career resources.
The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, giving attendees plenty of time to stop by—whether before work, after work, or anytime in between.
And it comes at a time when Alabama’s job market is showing strong momentum. The state’s unemployment rate is currently around 2.7%—one of the lowest in the country, with more than 2.3 million people employed statewide, a record high.
Locally, counties like Lawrence are also seeing low unemployment rates—hovering around 2.0%, reflecting steady job availability across the region.
Even with those positive numbers, opportunities like this job fair remain important, helping connect employers with workers, especially those looking to change careers, re-enter the workforce, or find a better fit.
Organizers say the goal is simple: connect people with real opportunities. Employers from industries like healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and education are expected to be on site, offering positions ranging from entry-level to full-time careers.
Those attending can expect more than just job listings. The fair will include on-the-spot interviews, resume help, and direct access to local businesses and organizations. Whether you’re entering the workforce for the first time, switching careers, or re-entering after time away, the event is designed to meet people where they are.
Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with multiple copies of their resume, a positive attitude, and interview-ready attire.
The Lawrence County Community of Churches says events like this are about more than employment—they’re about helping individuals and families move forward with confidence and stability in the next season of life.
