🏆 𝟗𝟗.𝟗𝟔% 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 🏆 In the 4th quarter of 2025, our clinical lab at William Newton Hospital processed a massive 37,745 specimens.🔬 That’s over 400 tests every day! 🧪 Those tens of thousands of samples are double-checked for accuracy before processing, and just 14 had labeling discrepancies.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫? Because in healthcare, every label represents a person. Our 99.96% accuracy rate means: ✅ Fewer repeat pokes for patients ✅ Faster, more reliable diagnoses ✅ A safer hospital for our community

While the national average for labeling errors sits around 0.2%–0.3%, our team is crushing those benchmarks with a rate of just 0.037%.

Patient feedback helps us shine! Today, we're celebrating five-star care at William Newton Hospital by highlighting the heart of our William Newton Hillside Family Medicine clinic. In our busy world, we know how much it means to have a healthcare team that takes time to listen. One of our patients recently shared why they feel so at home at Hillside:

The holiday spirit was in full swing this week as our administration team was out and about to say "thank you" to our incredible staff! The mission was simple: deliver treats and plenty of holiday cheer.
We kept cozy with a gourmet hot cocoa and coffee bar, plus cookies provided by William Newton Healthcare Foundation. Our cocoa, coffee, and cookie cart was made even more special by the beautiful sounds of violinist and William Newton Hospital Auxiliary member, Jennis. 🎻
In 2025 and beyond, our mission remains the same: caring for those who care for our community. Thank you to our administration and WNHF for the treats, and to our staff for your tireless dedication!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 7th Annual Mile of Lights on Sunday, December 14, at Island Park! It was an incredible Sunday evening hosted by the Winfield Recreation Commission and William Newton Hospital.

+ 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤: Nearly 1,000 registered participants!

Today, we are sharing a heartfelt "Happy Retirement" to a long-time member of our medical staff, Treasure Wehner, DO. While many know her from her work at the Community Health Center in Cowley County, we remember her decades of service right here within our hospital walls.

Dr. Wehner joined our medical community 32 years ago. She was a trailblazer—the first woman practicing general medicine in our area—and she quickly earned the respect of colleagues and patients alike. Many will remember her calm leadership during her years serving in our emergency room, where she cared for our community during their most stressful moments.

Dr. Wehner has always been a visionary. From being mentored by legends like Dr. Bruce Wells and Dr. Anand Kaul to later spearheading the creation of the federally funded Community Health Center, her goal has always been simple: ensuring everyone in Cowley County has access to quality care.

As she moves into this next chapter, we aren't just losing a brilliant physician; we are celebrating the career of a true friend to this hospital. We are so glad she is staying in Winfield to continue her beautiful stained glass work and spend time with her family.

Thank you, Dr. Wehner, for your 32 years of service to our patients and your partnership with our hospital. You have truly made our community a more beautiful and healthy place.
