William Newton Hospital (WNH) is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Winfield, KS with a proud heritage of excellence in patient care. Outpatient services include cardiac rehabilitation, wound care, diagnostic imaging, infusion therapy, laboratory, rehabilitation services, and many other diagnostic and therapeutic services. The hospital provides primary care through six rural health clinics in Cedar Vale, Dexter, Moline, Sedan, and Winfield, and an occupational health program to assist local business and industry. Cancer treatment and renal dialysis are also located on campus. Specialty clinics include cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry, interventional radiology, oncology, nephrology, neurosurgery, ENT, pediatrics, pulmonology, and urology. The non-profit community general hospital is locally managed and financially self-sufficient, relying entirely on patient revenue and philanthropic support. It does not receive tax dollars or outside health system assistance. The hospital is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Winfield City Commission. Meeting the healthcare needs of the citizens in the surrounding area has always been, and always will be, our number one priority.

We're celebrating 10 years of this wonderful non-profit providing entertainment and small comforts to children and families coping with illness.

A decade after founding Autumn's Gifts, Jessica O'Donnell (at right with son Cooper), is still helping bring entertainment to hospitals and organizations that care for children who are ill.
Oโ€™Donnellโ€™s inspiration behind Autumn's Gifts is her late cousin, Autumn Terrill, who passed away from cancer in 2012. After witnessing her cousin spend time in the hospital, restricted from โ€œnormal kidโ€ activities, Oโ€™Donnell made it her mission to help others.
Today, William Newton Hospital received a donation of a Fire 7 Kids Tablet, Nintendo Switch gaming system with controllers, and 5 games (Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fast & Furious Spy Racers Rise of Shifter, SONIC Super Stars, and Monster Jam Showdown).
We are so grateful for Jessica's kind heart! Please join us in saying "Thank You" for providing these fun toys for children in our care.
For more information about this initiative, find Autumnโ€™s Gifts on Facebook.

Inspired by a profound personal loss, William Newton Hospital employees Christian and Tehillah Smith have launched Huxleyโ€™s Halo of Hope, a new non-profit initiative to provide comfort to families grieving the loss of a child.

In a heartwarming display of support, WNH staff have come together to support their colleagues and kickstart Huxley's Halo of Hope. During a recent fundraising drive hosted by William Newton Healthcare Foundation, which began on July 28, Huxley's birthday, $8,037.63 was raised through monetary and paid-time-off donations.

Huxley's Halo of Hope was created in tribute to the Smiths' baby, Huxley, whom they lost during delivery in July 2024. The initiative's mission is to provide light, comfort, and remembrance to mothers, fathers, and families who have lost a baby.

The program provides grieving parents with a weighted bear that symbolizes the weight of their baby. The bear, along with a personalized gift basket, is a one-time gift from the community designed to offer a tangible keepsake and emotional support during a devastating time.

โ€œEvery mom should have the opportunity to have one of these bears,โ€ shared Tehillah. โ€œI didnโ€™t get to leave the hospital with my baby, but [the bear] has done miracles for me, for my family, for my son, and everyone who gets to hold her.โ€

The thoughtful gift, Tehillah says, provided โ€œa true blessing and a way of healing for my heart.โ€

Christian says establishing a non-profit will enable the couple to create baskets designed to support different stages of pregnancy loss. The coupleโ€™s goal is to provide a starting package of at least three full-term or third-trimester, five second-trimester, and five first-trimester infant loss care packages for each birthing center in Kansas, beginning with William Newton Hospital.

โ€œAny donation is greatly, greatly appreciated,โ€ says Smith.

The funds raised through the hospitalโ€™s drive will be used to support the ongoing efforts of Huxley's Halo of Hope, in partnership with Legacy Regional Community Foundation.

We are so proud of Christian and Tehillah, and Team WNH, for bringing light and comfort to families in their darkest moments. To learn more or to donate, visit Huxleyโ€™s Halo of Hope, contact Christian Smith at 620-222-4694, or email huxleyshaloofhope@gmail.com.
