INTRODUCING THE 555 POSTPARTUM RULE, A VALUABLE GUIDELINE TO SUPPORT YOUR RECOVERY AND NURTURE YOUR BODY AND MIND.

🛌 FIVE DAYS IN BED: GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF REST FOR THE FIRST FIVE DAYS AFTER CHILDBIRTH. EMBRACE THE COZY SANCTUARY OF YOUR BED, ALLOWING YOUR BODY TO HEAL, BOND WITH YOUR LITTLE ONE, AND ADJUST TO THE NEW RHYTHM OF MOTHERHOOD. FOCUS ON SKIN TO SKIN AND RESPONSIVE FEEDING.

🛌 FIVE DAYS ON THE BED: DURING THE SUBSEQUENT FIVE DAYS, GRADUALLY TRANSITION TO A FEW TRIPS TO OTHER LIVING AREAS, WELCOME FEW GUESTS. ENGAGE IN GENTLE ACTIVITIES (NO CHORES), ENJOYING CUDDLES WITH YOUR BABY, OR PRACTICING LIGHT STRETCHING TO PROMOTE RECOVERY.

🛌 FIVE DAYS AROUND THE BED: AS YOU ENTER THE FINAL FIVE DAYS, VENTURE BEYOND TOUR HOME. TAKE A SHORT 10 MINUTE WALK AND SAVOUR THE FRESH AIR. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND PACE YOURSELF, ALLOWING FOR A GRADUAL RETURN TO YOUR REGULAR ROUTINE. LET THE SUPPORT YOU HAVE HELP YOU WITH CHORES.

THIS 555 POSTPARTUM RULE, TOTALLING 15 DAYS OF INTENTIONAL SELF-CARE, PROVIDES A FRAMEWORK TO HONOR YOUR BODY'S NEED FOR REST, RECOVERY, AND ADJUSTMENT DURING THIS TRANSFORMATIVE TIME. REMEMBER, EVERY JOURNEY IS UNIQUE, SO EMBRACE YOUR OWN PACE AND ALLOW YOURSELF THE TIME AND SPACE TO HEAL AND FLOURISH. YOU'RE DOING AN AMAZING JOB, MAMA! 💖🌸

In one week this little man will be 10!

My journey to become a doula all started with him! I’m forever grateful for the amazing pregnancy and birth I had with him. But man I could do without the “know it all” attitude that comes with a 10 year old.

Chapstick is such a simple item. It can easily be forgotten even though it’s on almost every single hospital packing list.

But i can guarantee you it is going to be one of your most used items during labor and delivery.

All that breathing down baby, breathing through contractions, and pushing that baby out really makes your mouth and your lips so dry.

So pack that chapstick and make sure your support team knows to offer it to you often throughout labor!

Did you remember to bring chapstick?

Everyone and I mean everyone struggles with “can I really do this?”

Parenthood is riddled with self doubt and wondering if you can do this. It is the hardest job on this earth.

I was over joyed to be pregnant with my first but at the same time I was terrified at the thought of having to now raise this tiny human.

The weight of that is something every parent deals with. You are not alone in this. But have peace that you can do this! There will be challenges along the way but you got this!

What were your biggest worries as a new parent?

We all know someone who has just had a baby, is about to have a baby, or is struggling with young children at home.

Do not simply ask them what they need, they most likely will not tell you what they need and will brush off your suggestion to help!

Just show up and be the friend you always wish had shown up for you. Grab a broom, switch the laundry, bring the food! They will remember your act of kindness forever!

Save this post and share it with your friends and family so you all can show up for your friend in need!

What is the best thing someone did for you postpartum? Tag them below to sue your appreciation!

It’s worth it!

Everything you go through to get pregnant and to raise those babies is worth it!

I’m not saying it will be easy. I know first hand how hard motherhood is but it is 100% worth it!

If you are breastfeeding but you happen to truly not be producing enough for your baby, know that you are not alone.

It is okay to supplement with formula!

You do not need to spend hours and hours every day pumping and cleaning pump parts and making extra bottles nurse as much as you can just to still have to give your baby formula.

Give yourself grace. If nursing as much as you can and using formula to supplement feels right to you than do it! Don’t feel pressured to to add the extra weight of pumping to your day.

To the moms struggling to breastfeed your baby, I see you!

It’s world breastfeeding month and this month can either be very encouraging for you or very discouraging as you continue to try and try some more to provide milk for your baby.

Honestly as I was looking for inspiration to post for world breastfeeding week I found most affirmations to be completely demeaning to the moms that are struggling.

I am so thankful for my different breastfeeding experiences because they have given me compassion for those struggling.

I’m going to share in my stories some of my breastfeeding experiences.

I’d love to hear how your breastfeeding experience has shaped the way you support others in motherhood!
