Introducing our Awesome Patient Care Coordinator, Karenna Henkel, LPN.

"I’m a single mom of 3, 2 boys (22, 20) and a girl (15). I love to read, craft, and hang out with my kiddos. I’ve been an LPN for almost 18 years and have worked in many different areas of nursing. I started in long-term care, have done home health, pediatric home health, clinic work (family practice), and, of course, hospice. My hospice, why? My grandmother was my best friend, my person! She utilized hospice for a year and a half prior to her death. Her hospice company was not super helpful, not supportive, towards the end, when we asked for her medications to be discontinued, and the hospice medical director refused. Ultimately, we then decided to go with a different hospice provider (Gentiva was not an option given to us). Her next hospice was willing to make medication changes; however, we never met her nurse, never met the chaplain, or the social worker. I knew I wanted to provide better care for people than my grandmother had received. I wanted to make a difference for patients and their families. I wanted to be present when patients needed me, when their families needed me. Death is a journey we all will take, and everyone’s journey is different. I am blessed to get to be a part of someone else’s journey! "

Introducing our amazing CNA, Carmen KiImer!

"I started with hospice 3 years ago after working in long-term care for 14 years. I love what we do as a team and the difference we make to this community and surrounding communities; what we do is important, and I have never felt more confident in what I do until I started with Gentiva. Being a part of someone's last everything is one of the most rewarding feelings that words cannot explain. I feel blessed to be a part of this team!"

We are very excited to share a little about our amazing CNA, Isabel Clifford. She is 19 years old and has a sweet, outgoing baby boy. She loves to watch sports and travel. When it comes to her position on our team, she says, "Honestly, coming into hospice, I wasn't too sure I would be able to handle all the parts that came along with it. At the same time, it is definitely not easy; I have enjoyed every bit of it and am so glad I've chosen this route. I love caring for my patients and getting to know them. They make me feel very purposeful, and I love being such a big part of their everyday lives! "
