October is full of many heritage and culture celebrations! Today weâre highlighting Juliana Sebastian in celebration of Italian-American Heritage month! Juliana is a 3rd generation Italian and here is what she had to say about her heritage below.
âBeing Italian means being part of a big, loud, and loving family thatâs always connectedâwhether weâre gathered around the dinner table or meeting someone new who just happens to be Italian, too. It means having a strong work ethic, embracing life with passion, and, of course, aging like fine wine.
One of my favorite Italian traditions is the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. Every year, we prepare seven different kinds of fish or seafood, including the baccalĂ which is a salted cod that takes three days to soak and get just right. The night is a whirlwind of cooking chaos, loud music, feasting, and plenty of homemade red wine.
Celebrating my heritage reminds me that being Italian isnât just about the food -itâs about family, tradition, and love that carries through every generation.â
Thank you Juliana for allowing us to highlight your heritage this month!
