βNever Quitβ, that is my montra I suppose! Group fitness to personal training, over 30 years experience. Fitness in my life has kept me sain, balanced and I like to think young. Teaching classes is probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, helping others to enjoy working out, and teaching them how to take care of their bodies to stay injury free.
Fitness and aging, goes together well. In order to feel young and stay healthy, you have to make fitness a part of your life. Hopefully by the time you are in your 40βs or 50βs you are already hooked on working out. This can be as simple as a daily walk, or more focused fitness goals by attending the local gym, or hiring a personal trainer. Keeping this good habit in place will help you stay fit as you age. Aging does not have to be a negative on your fitness abilities. Yes, we need to adjust for aging, by exercising more in areas that need to be improved as we age; e.g. cardiovascular, strength, balance, flexibility etc...
Over the 30 years of career in the fitness world, I must say this past 10 years are been exceptionally rewarding. I have partnered with New Trier Adult Extension Center to teach fitness to adults in the extension program. Most of my students are committed to taking care of themselves as best as they can, while still enjoying their lives. We work hard, and some play hard. Classes are fun, as well as our workout locations.
For me to feel like I am getting a good workout, I must change things often, and find new things to do often. If I am bored my students are bored and that isnβt an option.
