🌟Our September Stars 🌟

Last Friday, we celebrated our annual DAC Recognition Day. We spent the morning hanging out and playing games, a few DAC staff made lunch for everyone, and we held our Recognition Ceremony in the afternoon. All of our individuals, whether they’ve been here 3 months or 53 years (!!), received a goody bag and certificate acknowledging their hard work and dedication to the DAC. 🫶🏼

We also celebrated our staff, as last week was also Direct Support Professional Appreciation Week. Several staff were recognized for reaching 1, 5, 10, and 25 years of employment at the DAC. All staff were given a “staff superlative” certificate – a silly title based on each of their personalities, interests, habits, etc. 😁

It was a fun week of dress-up days and acknowledging our amazing individuals and super staff! ☀️

We kicked off DAC Recognition and DSP Recognition Week with Sports Day! As you can see, we have a lot of sports fans in the building! 🤩

Announcing our September Employee of the Month ... Jordan Weishaar! 🤩

Jordan is a DSP and joined our team 8 months ago. When asked what their favorite thing about working at the DAC is, Jordan said “I love that every day is different and that I get to meet and serve the best people in Winona 😊 I truly have never loved a job more!” (Awww!🥰) Outside of work, Jordan enjoys reading, cooking, crocheting, camping, doing puzzles, and spending time with loved ones.

• What was your best Halloween costume? “Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time.”
• Favorite sports team? “University of Iowa Hawkeyes!”
• What's your coffee order? "Vanilla latte or a mocha 😊”
• If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be? "’Happier Than Ever’ by Billie Eilish”
• If you were a potato, how would you like to be cooked? "Mashed and loaded.”
• What person, past or present, has been an inspiration to you, and why? "My mom. She is so hard working, and she loves those around her fiercely.”
• Do you know how to play any instruments (or did you ever)? "Yes. Guitar, ukulele, and clarinet.”
• What hobby would you like to learn if you had the time? “Embroidery.”
• If you could have any animal for a pet, what would it be? “Manatee.”

We’ve got some veggies at the end of our driveway for sale - zucchini, squash, & cucumbers! Pay what you think is fair. There’s a lockbox on the end of the stand where payment can be placed. All money goes back into our garden program 🤗
