“Manual therapy doesn’t work.”

You’ve probably seen this ALL OVER social media lately.

But then why do so many athletes and active people still seek out hands-on care?

In Episode 561 of the podcast, I’m joined by with .crackandneedles for a deep dive into the modern role of manual therapy in rehab and performance.

Covering perspectives from physical therapy, athletic training and chiropractics and diving into pain psychology, diagnosis considerations, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, regional interdependence and more, this one’s perfect for any clinician who works with their hands.

My personal favorite line from this one -
“Everybody’s just looking for hope at the end of the day.” - Andrew Hauser

Most athletes today are over coached, over corrected, and underexposed to real movement variability.

In the latest episode of the podcast, I’m joined by Jake Dyson to dive into why making training fun again may be one of the most important things we can do for athletic development.

We discuss gamifying speed and agility work, creativity in sport, reactive movement, contact prep, why athletes are becoming “too good at tests,” and how variability may build more adaptable performers than rigid drill work alone.

We also discuss thoughts surrounding injury in youth athletes.

This episode hits a nerve for a lot of coaches, parents, and clinicians right now.

High school athletes are training more than ever.
More teams, more lifts, more private sessions.
But somehow, they’re showing up less prepared.

Joining me on today’s episode of the podcast is and
The 3 of us break down what we’ve seen working with high school athletes…
Athletes lacking a true physical foundation. Constant schedules with no room to develop. Programs that look good on paper but don’t translate in reality.

The answer isn’t more. It’s better. Better structure. Better communication. Better understanding of what these athletes actually need.

You think working hard is enough.

At least, that’s what most believe.

And it’s why most never separate.

Everyone works hard.

But very few are intentional.

Very few stay locked in when it actually matters.
The middle reps.
The early mornings.
The setbacks no one sees.

That’s where being “relentless” actually lives.

It’s not hype.
You wont always find it on social media.

It’s consistency with purpose.

It’s showing up with focus when nobody’s watching.
It’s solving problems instead of blaming people.
It’s building a standard that holds… even when the coach isn’t in the room.

This episode with breaks that down at a different level…
From what it really means to be relentless to building self sustaining cultures for teams.

If you’re serious about performance, This is one you don’t skip.

You fixed your patient’s isolated issue - so why does it still hurt when it comes time to put rubber to the road?

Most rehab stops where it feels productive, not where it becomes useful.

You get range.
You get strength.
But do you get transfer?

You solved the part… but never integrated with the system.

What happens next? Pain returns the second load is reintroduced.

The better question: Where does your process break… Isolation, Integration, or Function?

Because if they can’t control it unloaded, why would it hold under load?

And if they can control it… have you actually challenged it?

Rehab that sticks moves in phases:
Isolation to Integration to Function

Miss one, and you’re guessing.

Hit all three, and you’re building something that holds up under pressure.

If the lift hurts, stop treating the symptom. Trace it back. Find the loose nut.

The car won’t run without detailed inspection of each individual part.

Most coaches aren’t struggling with a lack of data.

It seems like the real issue is knowing what data matters.

GPS. Load monitoring. Reports. Dashboards.

This episode with breaks that down in a way most people miss.

Instead of chasing numbers, we emphasize translation to real coaching decisions and impact.

Because at the end of the day, data doesn’t make decisions. Coaches do.

And if the data isn’t helping you make better ones, what’s the point?

Soft tissue injuries aren’t random - and the rehab of them shouldn’t be either.

In the latest episode of the podcast I’m joined by Erin Angelini to break down how high-level teams are actually managing soft tissue injuries in-season.

This goes far beyond treatment. The best teams build systems to keep athletes available.

Load management. Microdosing. Tiered rehab. Constant communication across staff.

And one of the biggest misses? Not conditioning during rehab.

If athletes aren’t prepared to handle the demands of the game, return to play doesn’t mean much.

This is a real look at what high-performance rehab of soft tissue injuries actually requires.

The Universal Repair Kit. 🛠️

In the garage, you use Duct Tape and WD-40.
In the clinic, you use Stability and Mobility.

The logic is the same:
If it should move but doesn’t: WD-40.
If it moves but shouldn’t: Duct Tape.

The nuance lies in the strength, as an absence of strength can create tightness… meaning we use too much WD-40 for a problem that’s actually requiring duct tape.

Clarity in classification is a skill. Build it.

Learning to love your sport again isn’t easy.
But it might be the most important step.

Aiya Webb’s journey is real. From injury and doubt to rediscovering her passion and chasing 21+ foot jumps, this is what stepping into the next chapter actually looks like.

We get into the transition from high school to college track, the discipline behind training, recovery, and nutrition, and how she’s building her brand through NIL and social media.

This is one a lot of athletes will relate to!
Very appreciative of Aiya sharing her journey in sport and so many great insights.

What actually separates a good coach from a great one?

Is it the program? Or how you treat people?

The “soft skills” - Integrity. Effort. Respect.

breaks down what it really takes to build trust, create buy-in, and develop athletes who perform at a high level long after they leave your weight room.

From owning mistakes to mastering communication and meeting athletes where they are, this episode is a masterclass in coaching the person first.
