Another 5k with in the books - this time supporting !!! 💙💛

Spring has sprung and we are loving getting the chance to get out and participate in local events that support our patients! We had the best time running, playing games, and cheering loud and proud. Special shout out to Miss Chloe who placed FIRST in her age category! Can’t wait for next year!!!

Parents/Caregivers/Guardians!!!

If you have a child who utilizes any form of AAC, please reach out to your therapist to discuss taking part in a new research survey. “This study seeks to gather information regarding understanding from the perspectives of adult caregivers supporting individuals who use AAC device(s). The study focuses on how the AAC device supports or does not support functioning in the medical care setting and to understand how implemented AAC devices are utilized during medical appointments and care.”

We appreciate your support in helping find improvements in implementing AAC devices for users in their everyday lives and providing them with more autonomy.

Meet the Team Monday! 🩵
Say hi to our newest team member, Ms. Chloé! 👋

Chloé Neunsinger, M.A. CF-SLP, is a recent graduate of UNCG. Earlier this year, she spent time providing speech therapy services in Belize for 3 months. 🇧🇿
If she looks familiar, it’s because she was also one of our graduate student interns last year. 😉 (Swipe to the end to see a picture of her as an intern with Ms. Sarah!) Ms. Chloé’s subspecialties include fluency disorders, multilingual treatment, and AAC. In her free time, she runs the nonprofit organization The Dance Lab Co., teaching adaptive dance to intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. She is so excited to work with you and your family! 😄

Meet Tommy the tracheostomy bear! 🧸

Tommy was created by our wonderful, innovative team of SLPs to assist our little ones in becoming more comfortable and aware of the process following trach placement as well with implementation and utilization of a Passy Muir Valve. Tommy has been a wonderful addition to our support team here at our clinic! Our patients, damilies, and SLPs love Tommy!!!

Each semester, our graduate student clinicians are asked to complete a project that will better serve our clinic in some capacity. This can be creating an organizational system of some sort, creating a new resource, or even doing a beautification project to make the clinic more visually inviting!

This semester, Ms. Caroline’s graduate student, Davis Ann Wood, built a farm-themed bookshelf for our waiting room and stocked it full of books and toys for our patients to utilize while waiting for their therapy sessions. We are SO amazed at her creativity and hard work she has put forth to make the clinic just that much more beautiful! Thank you so much, Davis Ann, we will miss you! ❤️
