New Year's Eve - A time of reflection and celebration! We had the opportunity to support hundreds of families across the Triad this year and it was truly incredible.
Our team of five doulas attended 73 births - some were fast labors and others lasted days. We are so thankful that we work as a team to support one another well so that we can always give 100% to our clients.
Jessica, the lactation consultant in Growing Families, drove over 30,000 miles doing 1,600+ in-home lactation visits. Visits took place in bedrooms, living rooms, baby rooms, and even backyards!
So many stories could be shared. Every client has a story and we treasure watching all our families grow. But the smallest and the largest babies we worked with this year are especially notable because they defied the odds:
The largest baby was a doula client - this baby was born in a smooth vaginal birth with no complications. The mother and her midwife were confident that her body could birth her baby well - and she did!
The smallest baby was a lactation client - this baby was born in the second trimester and spent a good amount of time in the NICU. The mother was conistent with her pumping routine and maintained her milk supply. After coming home, the baby has transitioned to only breastfeeding at the breast and he has been thriving and growing at exceptional rates - despite being born so small and so early.
We are excited to see what 2026 brings!
