❄️ Snow Day Safety Tips from Waughtown Pediatrics ❄️

With snowy weather in the forecast, we know many families will be heading outside to enjoy the fun! ⛄ While snow days can be exciting, it’s important to keep safety top of mind when children are playing in winter weather.

Here are a few tips to help keep your little ones safe and warm:

🧤 Dress in layers – Warm coats, hats, gloves, and waterproof boots are a must. Change out of wet clothes as soon as kids come inside.
🧣 Limit time outside – Take frequent breaks to warm up and watch for signs of cold stress, like shivering or numb fingers.
👀 Supervise play – Make sure children are playing in safe areas, away from roads, driveways, and snowplows.
🛷 Sled safely – Use helmets when sledding, and choose hills that are free of trees, fences, and traffic.
☀️ Don’t forget sunscreen – Snow reflects sunlight and can still cause sunburn, even on cold days.
