Happy 2026! It isn't too late for us to join the troll party in NC, is it?

We had to take autumn and holiday coffee walks. But we've so been looking forward to visiting Little Sally on West Grimes Ave in High Point. Constructed by internationally known, Danish artist Thomas Dambo last fall, this off-the-beaten-path public art has proven incredibly popular with all ages.

People come from all over to take a short walk in nature and explore the ecologically informed structure made of reclaimed wood. There's special excitement locally over her hair made of upcycled furniture legs.

Her name surely is meant ironically, as Little Sally is 16 feet tall! Her cousin in Charlotte, Big Pete with the Big Feet, is even larger. There are a collection of trolls in Raleigh, as well as a temporary exhibit (for a few more weeks) of a dozen trolls in Asheville.

Explore art and nature, DeBeen cup in hand! Little Sally is only three miles from DeBeen HP on the other side of downtown. Park across the street. There's no charge to explore and take selfies.

Happy hump day and Epiphany!

Since we shared about Mickey Coffee Pot yesterday, we thought we would continue today on the other side of Old Salem. If you haven't yet caught the Moravian stars annually hung on the Heritage Bridge, you have a bit more time. Typically they come down at the conclusion of Epiphany season, close to Candlemas.

Happy Mon! It's the first full week of Jan and of 2026. Get caffeinated at DeBeen for all the stuff you gotta get done!

This morning, longtime DeBeen HP customer Stephanie stopped by for "an oat milk latte! Pretty much my tried and true!" She brought along her baby, her "mini," to show her a favorite place of her younger self.

Stephanie says, "My daughter’s name is Sky. She's almost ten-months-old. I went to DeBeen almost every day in high school. From homework, to Bible studies, to playing scrabble for hours. I’m rarely in High Point anymore. So since I was there, I couldn’t miss the chance to drop in.

"I'm a full-time mom to two babies and a full time student studying nutrition and dietetics. My goal for 2026 is to rediscover who I am outside and inside motherhood, fully and intentionally. Which is another reason I dropped by: DeBeen always felt like home to me when I was young. I wanted to be reminded of who Steph was and is!

"I was actually pregnant with my first the last time I was at DeBeen. He's two-years-old now. Time flies! I brought the youngest with me today while my toddler is at school.

"I actually just finished working as a fitness trainer in Greensboro last month to focus on school and raising the babies." Stephanie says, "The gym feels like home to me. I can’t imagine my days without it. My husband is a lifter as well, so I’m sure our little ones will grow up in the gym."

Thanks so much and best wishes for the new year, Stephanie! Thank you for sharing your story, memories and babies!

Think the holidays were so last year?

Thank you, Peter, Emma and her dad Peter, and dog Moses, for visiting DeBeen right around the New Year. And for sharing their stories!

Yesterday afternoon, Peter stopped by DeBeen WS and found a fun holiday window perch. He went with a hot, foamy banana bread latte with whole milk. A former customer in High Point, Peter says, "I visit DeBeen a few times a year. For my caption: Friday afternoon caffeine vibes unlocked."

On the morning of New Year's eve, Emma, her dad and Moses, an 8-year-old Boxer, got cozy at DeBeen HP. Emma says, "It's not an annual tradition, but we’ve always loved DeBeen! It was Moses's second time there. I think he likes DeBeen too! He had a treat.

"I ordered a latte with oat milk and some honey. My dad ordered a drip coffee (maybe a winter blend?), and added some cream and cinnamon!

"When I was in high school, my friends and I practically lived at DeBeen. We shared so many special memories there. I've graduated from college. But whenever I'm home or passing through town, I always make sure to pay a visit to DeBeen.

"Happy New Year to all the awesome baristas! I’m looking forward to many more DeBeen visits in 2026!"
