Both blepharoplasty and fractional CO₂ laser can improve the appearance of the eye area, but they address different concerns and work in very different ways.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and, when needed, fat from the upper or lower eyelids. It’s best for patients with significant skin laxity, eyelid hooding, or heaviness that may even affect vision. Surgery offers the most dramatic and long-lasting correction for excess eyelid skin.
Fractional CO₂ laser, on the other hand, is a non-surgical treatment that improves skin quality. It works by stimulating collagen to tighten the skin, smooth fine lines, and improve crepey texture and pigmentation around the eyes. It can create noticeable tightening for patients with mild to moderate laxity, but it does not remove excess skin.
In some cases, patients benefit from one or the other, and in others, a combination approach provides the best result.
The right option depends on your anatomy, concerns, and goals. A consultation allows us to determine whether a surgical, non-surgical, or combined approach will give you the most natural, effective outcome.
