Yesterday we celebrated the new childcare center at Brookridge that will provide intergenerational connections for residents as well as reliable, subsidized childcare for our team members.

Congratulations to our Heart Health challenge medalists! 🏅

Residents pictured are, from left to right: Marti Kucera, Connie Turner, Bob Ferris, Rosie Shaw, and Ilene Pool. (Not pictured: Candi Tolar and Bob Day, Frank Hartman, Bonnie Doerr.) Winners accomplished walking at least one mile three times a week and some reached daily activity, up to three miles at a time. Other winners attended up to 10 classes per week!

- Walking Club is back.
- (Hopefully) the pool will open for AquaFit & Water Walking.
- Woof Walks at Reynolda are back.
- NEW: Air Boxing Class (for Arthritis, Parkinson's, etc.) will begin Wednesday, March 4th.
- Cooking Demo with Chef Shane.
- Smoothie Bar opens! Friday, March 6th after Co****le.

Join us in wishing Kirk Deal a happy 13 years working at Brookridge!

Kirk has built his career from the ground up, starting as a maintenance technician and steadily advancing into leadership through hard work and commitment. After beginning in maintenance, Kirk quickly moved into a team leader role, followed by positions as maintenance supervisor and assistant director. For the past three years, he has proudly served as the Director of Facility Services. Each step along the way helped shape his leadership style and deepen his understanding of the many departments that keep Brookridge running smoothly.

What Kirk enjoys most about his current position is the time he gets to spend connecting with
residents — whether addressing concerns, explaining processes, or simply sitting down to chat. Helping residents, big or small, is what brings him the most fulfillment. Known throughout Brookridge for his humor and upbeat personality, Kirk believes in spreading positivity wherever he can. He makes it a point to greet people, offer a compliment, or share a joke, understanding that you never know what someone may be going through. His lighthearted approach and genuine kindness make him a bright spot in many people’s day.

Outside of work, Kirk enjoys spending quality time with his grandchildren, camping, boating, and
relaxing with family at his cabin in Caldwell County.

Kirk’s dedication, leadership, and heart for people make him an invaluable part of the Brookridge
family. We are grateful for all that he does and proud to spotlight him this month.

At Brookridge, we are still celebrating Valentine’s all month long, helped in part by the college student ministry from Two Cities Church. Volunteers came to Brookridge last night for Valentines Bingo and to do crafts with some of residents. We had a huge turnout of volunteers and residents and they had a fantastic time!

For 13 years, Tammy Collins has been a familiar, welcoming presence at Brookridge. She currently serves as the Independent Living Receptionist. Tammy began her Brookridge career in the dining room, where she started as a member of the waitstaff. Through hard work and commitment, she advanced to the role of shift leader, gaining valuable leadership experience and strengthening her connections with both residents and coworkers. Over time, due to health considerations, Tammy transitioned into her current position at the front desk.

Tammy said the most meaningful part of her job is meeting the residents and staff. She loves that connection and brings a smile to her work everyday.
“It’s peaceful," she said of her job. "I know everybody here — everybody. They make me feel so
good and so welcome. I love my job. I love it here.” Outside of work, Tammy enjoys driving, reading, and traveling.

We are grateful for Tammy's continued dedication and the heart she brings to the community every single day.

Residents celebrated Valentine’s Day today with handmade cards, gifts, and special treats!

We asked our community to send Valentines to our healthcare residents and we received special ones from Brookridge team members and independent living residents, schools and family members, and our sister community Taylor Glen. We celebrated today with a party with delicious sweet treats from our chefs!

Cynthia Moore Brown is an acclaimed Southern storyteller and author with more than 30 years of experience. A former educator and librarian, she brings down-home folktales to life with music, heart, and a storyteller’s charm, and is co-author of Folklore and Food.

Yesterday the marketing team hosted a Lunch and Learn event for people interested in joining the Brookridge community. It included a resident panel talking about their experience at Brookridge and what it was like moving to a Life Plan Community. We had a wonderful turnout and guests asked a lot of great questions. Chef Shane and the team served a delicious Greek meal afterwards.
