Child Care Center Owners & Directors – Your Voice is Needed!

North Carolina’s child care system is at a critical crossroads. Programs across the state are struggling to stay open, pay staff a living wage, and meet the needs of families.

That’s why we’re joining with leaders like YOU to call on legislators to:

Songs, rhymes, and movement help toddlers expand vocabulary, improve listening skills, and strengthen their ability to express themselves.

🧠 3. Encourages Emotional Growth
Music and movement help toddlers explore emotions in a safe space, teaching self-regulation and confidence.

👫 4. Promotes Social Interaction
Classes include group activities that teach toddlers how to share, take turns, and build relationships with others.

🏃 5. Develops Motor Skills
Dancing, clapping, and playing instruments improve both fine and gross motor coordination.

👪 6. Strengthens Parent-Child Bonds
Kindermusik classes include caregivers, allowing for quality one-on-one interaction and reinforcing learning at home.

These classes offered by CCRC are designed for family, friend, and neighbor caregivers to attend with the children in their care. The classes are free, but donations from those who are able to give are always welcome and help us continue the work we do.

As you unload groceries, show your child each fruit and vegetable you pull out. Ask them its name and then tell them a little about it, like where it comes from. Ask them what they think you should use it for—in a sandwich? In a salad?

Pointing to objects as you say their name helps children eventually learn new vocabulary. And when you turn it into a back and forth conversation, you're building a brain!

my wrinkled hands steadying your steps,

But I will.

I will remember the first time
you said my name like it was a song.
I will remember your sticky kisses,
your mismatched socks,
and the way you lit up
when I walked into the room.

One day,
you’ll be too big for my lap—
but never for my heart.
So I’ll hold on to these moments
while you outgrow them.

Because you may not remember.
But I will.
Forever.
